Ethan's POV

I ran over and flung myself to my knees, next to her lifeless form.

"Emma." I whispered.

I quickly pressed my fingers against her neck and breathed a sigh of relief as I felt a faint pulse. I quickly assessed her injuries and saw that she was covered in blood. I quickly took off my jacket and placed it over her. I needed to keep her warm. I could instantly see that her right shoulder was dislocated.

A few moments had passed since she had been hit, yet somehow it felt like a lifetime. I looked up as I saw the driver speeding away. I was seething.

"Is she okay?" a passer by asked as she rushed over and crouched next to me.

"Yeah but her pulse is weak." I said quietly.

I quickly examined her shoulder.

"I've called an ambulance." the passer by told me.

"What are you doing?!" she exclaimed as I began to manipulate Emma's shoulder.

"Resetting her shoulder will be very painful, I'd rather do it while she is still unconscious." I said quietly.

I sighed in relief when I heard a satisfying crack as her shoulder was back in place.

"Emma can you hear me?" I whispered as I gently placed my hands on either side of her head, to try and stabilise her neck.

"Shouldn't you wait until the ambulance gets here?!" the passer by exclaimed.

"I'm a doctor, I know what I'm doing!" I snapped.

"How long ago did you phone the ambulance?" I demanded.

"About five minutes ago." she replied quietly.

I quickly checked her pulse again and felt nothing.

"No, don't do this to me." I pleaded as I started chest compressions.

I had never found CPR so difficult before. I was emotionally exhausted and was having difficulty finding the strength to do the compressions. It didn't help that my arms were shaking from the adrenaline. I checked her pulse again... still nothing. I felt tears flow down my cheeks as I started another round of compressions. I had never thought about life without her and couldn't face the fact that I might have too. I knew that I had to save her, for her sake as much as my own.

"I can't lose you." I sobbed.

I checked her pulse again and sagged with relief when I felt one. I had never felt such an overwhelming sense of relief before. I still had hope that she would be okay, I needed to cling onto it.

I sighed in relief as I heard sirens in the distance.
