"You can have the spare room if you want, it'll be more comfortable than the sofa?" I offered Caleb when we finally got home.

He nodded at me. I rummaged in the cupboards and handed him some sheets.

"That was a crazy night." he stated yawning.

"Yeah it was pretty busy." I agreed.

"You coped really well, especially as it was your first night shift." he complimented me.

I blushed and looked away. I could feel Ethan's eyes burning into me.

"I'm going to get a snack before bed, do you want anything?" I asked Caleb.

"Nope I'm just going to head straight to bed." he answered.

I nodded and wandered into the kitchen.

"Thanks for letting me stay!" he called after me.

"No problem." I called back.

I smiled to myself, he could be nice after all. I hated that he didn't get along with Ethan. It was obvious that they care about each other and could pull together when they had too. They'd managed to pull together when I was in hospital. They were just too different. I was determined to help them get along with each other. I had to help repair their broken relationship.

I looked up as Ethan entered the room.

"I made you some toast." I told him as I spread margarine on them.

He nodded at me.

I could tell that he was still upset with me. I could see it on his face.

We ate our food in silence. I hated that he was still hurting because of me. First I'd hurt him because of what happened with Caleb, and now I'd lied to him. I couldn't keep doing this. I quickly turned my back on him and slowly washed the plates up. I didn't stop the tears that were flowing down my cheeks, carrying the guilt was starting to get to me.

"Hey, what's this for?" he asked softly as he appeared beside me.

"I can tell that you are hurt that I lied to you." I sniffed sadly.

"A bit but I understand that you didn't want to face it." he said as he gently brushed my tears away.

"I can't keep hurting you like this." I said as I turned and ran upstairs.

I changed into my nightdress and climbed under the covers. A few moments later Ethan climbed in next to me.

"It's fine, just forget about it." he said as he pulled me into his arms.

"I don't deserve you." I said quietly against his chest.

"Stop it, you know that's not true." he told me.

"I'm sorry for lying to you." I whispered.

"I forgive you." he stated.
