"I should have known," I shook my head in disbelief. The set of Dune was a wild place. Mountains of sand, everything looked the same, hot and crowded with the large crew.

I'd turned my head for one moment, only to lose Mallory. I'd been frantic, but then I remembered there was one person who was nearly as neurotic about Mallory as me. Sure enough, Timothée had her on his lap. They were pulling funny faces for his camera.

Playing Princess Irluan had been a life changing experience in more ways than one. When my partner had left a year and a half ago, I'd known what I'd be facing would be hard. It would be me and Mallory against the world. I had a few small roles that kept us floating, but nothing like this.

From day one, Timothée had been like a crutch from me. I hadn't asked, or expected, but his and Mallory's connection had been instant. He was more like a father than my previous partner had ever been. He adored her. It was why I'd decided to ask him out. I'd decided to swear off dating, but Timothée was so different.

"Mommy!" Mallory said happily.

"What were you two doing?" I asked.

"Taking memories," she proclaimed.

"I realized I had no photos with her and we are nearly done filming. I'm gonna miss the two of you like crazy," he said sadly.

"Actually, I needed to ask you something," I said offhandedly.

"Oh, what? Do you need a baby sitter?" he chuckled.

"Actually I wanted to ask you out," I said slowly.

"You did?" He asked in surprise.

"Unless that's too weird for you," I said quietly.

"Say yes Timmy!" Mallory begged.

"I was just surprised because I've had a crush on you since filming started and I didn't get any signs you felt the same," he laughed, and picked up Mallory.

"Letting you spend time with Mallory is the biggest sign I can give," I smiled.

"Can I kiss you?"

I leaned in and kissed him gently.

"Yay!" Mallory cheered, and my heat did the same.
