AFTER THE INCIDENT with crows, the students found themselves back in the classroom with officers who were inspecting the place and asking questions. Even the parents of some students heard of what happened and came to see whether their child was fine.

Reid was sitting on a table beside Lydia who looked pretty shaken up after the whole thing. "You okay?"

"Hmm?" She absentmindedly turned to look at him, her hair was a mess and there were bite makes given by the crows on her skin. Unlike her, Reid wasn't hurt. He couldn't tell whether he was or they healed because either way, he barely felt anything.

"Do you need to go to the infirmary?"

"No," she shook her head, her eyes drifting down to her arms, zeroing on the wounds, "I'll be fine. Are you okay?"

"Never been better," his tone was laced with sarcasm. He noticed a piece of feather in her hair and couldn't stop his own hands which made their way up her hair and took it off while she stayed still.

"What are you—" she cut herself off when he showed her the black feather, "— oh. Thanks."

"Anytime," he tossed it aside, "so what just happened is a perfect excuse to call it a day and return home."

While Reid had his own place and didn't live with Deaton, somehow the man would find out everything that he’d do.

Lydia stared at him, humoured, "it's your first day and you wanna go back home already?"

"Yeah," he murmured, "I hate school."

"Who doesn't?" The strawberry blonde laughed, "but thinking about your future and friends make it worth your time and well."

"If you say so," he sighed, his hand reaching out to his bag which he had placed on the ground earlier. He placed his stuff inside and zipped it shut. "However, I’d still be rather lying on my bed and watching netflix all day so I’ll be on my way."

"Why not stay?" The question flew past her lips before she could stop it, "I’ll make it worth your time."

"Lydia, hey," before Reid could reply, Stiles approached them, having just received a text from his best friend who told him that Reid was a werewolf and that they needed to be cautious around him. Upon seeing the strawberry blonde talking to him, Stiles felt protective and decided to cut in their conversation.

"What is it?" Lydia questioned, narrowing her eyes at the boy whose eyes kept going to the hybrid every now and then. Reid could basically smell anxiety radiating off him.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" Stiles gave a her a look that was saying ‘it is important.’ The girl nodded, letting out a reluctant sigh before she decided to follow Stiles out of the class.

Reid scoffed when he realised that Stiles knew that he was a werewolf as he was dragging the strawberry blonde as far away as possible so he wouldn't be able to hear their conversation. ‘He's Scott's best friend. Of course he'd know,’ he realised as he bit his lip and gripped the straps of his bag which he had flung over his shoulder.

Just as he was about to leave, his eyes fell on a very familiar man, talking to Allison. The man's face held concern as he stared at the teenage girl and inspecting her for any injuries.

"Argent," Reid decided to make his appearance known. Both Chris and Allison snapped their heads in his direction and while she held a questioning and confused look, her father stared at him in recognition.

"What are you doing here?" Chris stood over Allison protectively, thinking that the boy would hurt them but he calmed down when he realised that he was another student and wouldn't attack them in public.

"Relax," he raised his hands to his sides in a surrendering motion, "I mean no harm."

"Wait," Allison's face held confusion at the exchanged words, "how do you know my dad?"

"He came to my house a few years ago with that old guy— his dad, I think." He turned to Chris for confirmation, "was it?"

"Yes," Chris gritted his teeth, remembering the time when they got news of a lone werewolf in Los Angeles; Reid’s father, Gabriel. They didn't know he had a son or that he was an alpha. When they came to attack, Reid ran, taking his father's words into consideration; always save yourself first.

Gabriel hated how it backfired at him. The Argents didn't mind that a child ran away for they didn't know Reid was his son so they assumed that he wasn't a werewolf rather a random kid. Taking Gabriel down cost the Argents thirty of their men until they finally managed to kill him with ten silver bullets in his body, unaware that Gabriel would wake up ten minutes later, his vampire side triggered.

Once he made sure that the hunters were gone, Reid returned home. His father was pissed and took out his anger out on him. It was then that Reid killed the man for good himself.

A month later, Chris found out that Gabriel had a son and came back to finish the job alone since he thought it would be easy. But it wasn't and he didn't get it done when he found a young version of Reid with Deaton. The man then told Chris that Reid was practically harmless and that he was going to take care of him.

"You moved here?" Chris questioned, thinking that the hybrid would want to avenge his father, "with Alan? Recently?"

"I have no one else and he's my legal guardian."

"I'm sorry about your dad—" Chris shot him an apologetic look, "— I'm not into hunting anymore."

"No need to be sorry," Reid didn't bother telling him that he wasn't the one who killed his dad for good. The last thing he wanted was for an ex hunter to find out about his species. "He was a dick anyway."
