LYDIA WAS LYING ON her bed, her books spreaded out in front of her as she studied, momentarily twirling a pen in between her fingers. However, she could barely concentrate on studying since her mind would constantly drift to Reid.
The whole mate thing, the kiss they shared that left her craving for more and the fight that she thought was currently going on. She wondered if they— if Reid was all right or at least, she was hoping so.
All thoughts flew out of her head when she heard someone knocking on her window. She stood up from her bed and approached it, putting aside the curtains as her eyes landed on the familiar alpha.
He had carried pants with his teeth when he was in wolf form so he put them on when he reached the Martins’ house.
"Open up," Reid mouthed and she instantly opened the window. Lydia watched as he carefully entered her room, small groans leaving his lips at every single movement. Once he was inside, he was on the ground, leaning against the wall.
Lydia allowed her eyes to take in his appearance and a small gasp left her at the wounds scattered on his revealed chest and back along with his arms.
"Oh my god," she breathed out, rushing down to his level, "why aren't you healing?"
"It's gonna take longer since they're from an alpha— more than one actually," he responded, his voice raspy from all the growling he did earlier, "— shit, they got me good."
"They did," she muttered, allowing her eyes to rake across his exposed chest— all the burnt tattoos on it which were hardly visible due to the blood on them. She internally groaned, it wasn't the time to drool.
Her lips pulled into a frown when she saw blood coming out of the rather large gashes on his stomach, "are they going to leave a scar?"
"Not really, no." He breathed out, glad that there was blood on his body which was covering the actual scars given to him by his father. He didn't want to explain that to her right then.
"Not that I have a problem with it but..." she went to sit down on the ground next to him, "why did you come here?"
"Honestly?" He looked at her as she took his hand in hers and began brushing her fingers over his bloodied knuckles which made him feel like his healing process was speeding up, "I don't know."
"We both know that it's because you couldn't resist the need to see me," Lydia decided to light up the situation, "no need to lie. Wait, can you lie to me?"
"Yeah," he chuckled which was a very bad idea as he instantly bit his lip when pain filled his entire body which resulted in him letting out a small groan.
"Are you okay?" She turned to him, concern lacing her features. He nodded, his voice filled with sarcasm as he spoke, "perfect, as you can see. What about you?"
She let go of his hand and stood up which made him frown, "no, keep holding my hand. It's speeding up the healing process."
"I will," she assured, "but you need to get on the bed. Come on, make yourself comfortable."
"No, I'm drenched in blood." He looked down at himself in disgust, "it'll stain your bedsheets."
"I don't care," she muttered, "I'll change them later."
He shook his head, "I need a shower. Help me up, will you?"
Lydia nodded as she bent down to help him up. Once he was standing, he didn't let go of her hand, "now, I'm gonna go shower. Do you mind?"
"Of course not," she pointed towards the door behind which the bathroom was, "take your time. I'll go get some clothes for you. There must be some of dad's old clothes somewhere. I'll find something for you."
"You can find them later, I need help." Truth was, he did not really need help. He would be able to manage on his own considering that the wounds were already seventy percent healed. He just wanted Lydia to be close to him and he hated how much he craved it.
"Okay, come on." Lydia dragged him to the bathroom and once they were inside, she watched as he took off his pants, leaving him only in his underwear which she tried not to let her eyes linger on. He noticed that but said nothing as she placed him right under the showerhead and turned on the tap, allowing water to fall on him, getting rid of the blood. She tried not to let her eyes wander and kept them straight on his face.
He sighed when the water hit his opened wounds making them sting slightly. He glanced down and saw that they were healing at a quicker pace which made him look up at her again, "okay, you can leave now unless you wanna see the rest—"
"— There are clean towels under the sink," she was quick to speak, turning around and walked out of the bathroom. Reid exhaled in relief when she was out, he did not want her to see all the scars on his body, in fear that either she'd be disgusted or she'd ask questions. He did not know why he made her come with him in the first place.
"Stupid mate shit."
