LYDIA FILLED REID in on what happened last night at the motel and he was glad that he didn't go. The two were currently in the library as the strawberry blonde attempted to find a book that was worth her time.
"This is boring," Reid complained as he sat on one of the tables, his eyes staying fixed on the strawberry blonde who shook her head at a book and placed it back on the shelf.
She huffed, turning to look at him and was about to say something when his phone went off in his pocket. He took it out and frowned at the unfamiliar number before bringing it to his ears, "what's up?"
"It's Sheriff Stilinski," the man answered, "Alan Deaton was kidnapped. I'm informing you since you're under his care and I think you ought to know."
Reid's breath hitched at the information. He composed himself quickly and jumped off the table, "what do you mean ‘he's been kidnapped’?"
"We're at his clinic right now," Stilinski spoke, "you can come over."
"I'll be there," Reid hung up the call and went to his call logs only to find over ten missed calls from Deaton. He frowned, guilt filling him at the thought of the man trying to reach him before his disappearance. He knew what was going to happen to him and he was hoping Reid would help him but he was too busy not caring.
Reid has never been so angry with himself. He tightened his grip around his phone before roughly shoving it in his pocket. He turned to Lydia who was already staring at him with concern on her face, "what's wrong?"
"It's— It's Deaton," he found himself stuttering, "they said he was kidnapped but he was taken. He knew it— He's going to be sacrificed— I can't let that happen. Shit," he ran his fingers through his hair, pulling them as he grew tense at the thought of losing him as well, "fuck—"
"— Hey," Lydia approached him and took his hands in hers making him look down at her. She brought his hands to her lips and planted a kiss on his knuckles as he sighed, "it's going to be okay. He's going to be fine."
"He called me," he muttered, clenching his jaw at his own words, "he was hoping I'd go help him." Reid scoffed at his own words, "but I didn't. I didn't even hear the damn thing ring because I—" he cut himself off, not wanting to say the next words out loud. He was too busy taking drugs.
Last night, Reid did go to sleep even though he knew it wouldn't come easy but after an hour or so, it did. But after another hour, he was woken up by a nightmare— one where his father was back and torturing Lydia while making him watch.
He couldn't do anything about it but just watch. He was so weak and vulnerable in that nightmare— he hated feeling as such. He then decided to help himself by taking in those highly addictive substances that would make him forget about everything around him.
Lydia didn't push him, knowing that he would tell her in his own time. She had figured that the hybrid wasn't the most stable person out there.
"It's okay," she placed her other hand on the side of his face, offering him a reassuring smile, "why don't you go to the clinic and see what you can do to help?"
"I will," he muttered, letting out a sigh as she let go of his hand. He placed a quick kiss on her forehead before walking out of the library and head straight to the clinic.
Once he reached the place, he saw Sheriff Stilinski talking to Marin then his eyes fell on Scott and Stiles who were also there, looking at Marin with surprise on their faces.
"Please, whatever you need. However you can help find my brother." Marin said to the sheriff who nodded before leaving. On his way out, he placed a comforting hand on Reid's shoulders, "we'll find him."
"I'm sure you will," Reid nodded even though he knew that the sheriff wouldn't be able to find Deaton. Stilinski then walked out and Reid was quick to rush towards Marin, a hand around her throat as he slammed her against the wall.
"Come on, Reid." Marin chuckled, staring at the teenager who her brother had taken in, "if you kill me, Alan might not be so pleased with you."
"You're helping them," Reid gritted out, "and now you suddenly care?"
"I've always cared," Marin responded calmly despite their position, "you'll understand why I'm doing what I am in due time. Now let go of me. I can help you find Alan."
Reid reluctantly let go of her and took a step back while she slowly rubbed her neck. Scott and Stiles made their way to stand beside Reid as Marin spoke, "okay, listen closely, all three of you— no sheriff, deputy, or detective is going to be able to find him."
"I know that," Reid muttered, "but who can?"
"You need to use the one person who might actually have an ability to seek out the supernatural," Marin replied, smirking slightly at Reid who tried to act indifferent as Stiles said the familiar name, "Lydia."
