THE NEXT DAY, REID went to school, trying to forget about Deucalion's visit last night. His mind was racing with all of the possibilities of what could happen tonight.
For some reason, he didn't want them to die. He hated that he had grown attached in such a short amount of time but then again, he has never really had any real friends. Scott, Stiles and Isaac had somehow managed to make him somewhat like them. He enjoyed their presence even though he would never admit it.
Reid was walking towards his locker when he caught a very familiar scent as Lydia started to walk beside him, "good morning."
Her presence instantly calmed him down, making him forget all the negative thoughts that he was thinking about regarding the fight that was going to go down later that day. How she did that? he had absolutely no idea.
"Good morning," he replied as he walked towards his locker with her following closely behind. "So, do you have anything planned tonight?"
"Yeah," he muttered, "the others have this plan to attack, which by the way, is very stupid like I told them but they don't wanna listen."
"So it's a suicide mission?" She asked earning a shrug from him in response. He sighed, "I don't know, maybe? Yeah, it pretty much is. I have a bad feeling about this."
"Well, you can not go and stay with me," she suggested jokingly, "we can do something... fun."
He raised his brows at her sudden suggestion, "define fun and I might consider it." Both of them knew that he wasn't going to do that yet they kept on talking about it for some reason.
"It involves you and me," Lydia began as she tried to keep on a serious face on, "in my bed." Reid couldn't tell whether she was being joking or not. Either way, as much as he wanted to consider it, he knew he wasn't going to let Scott and Isaac go with Derek and the others to fight the Alphas alone. With him there, they might actually have a chance.
He cracked a smile, turning to look at her, "someone woke up and decided to make a move today."
"Well, it's now or never."
"I can't tell whether you're serious or not," Reid admitted, his tone filled with amusement as he stared at the strawberry blonde.
"Not about the ditch the others, no." Lydia replied, shaking her head with a laugh, "while I don't want you to die, I don't want them to die either and you being there might actually give them a chance considering I've heard how strong you are. But I'm serious about —" She was interrupted when a girl who looked about the same age as them with blonde hair came to stand beside Reid's locker, flashing him a bright smile.
"Can we help you?" Lydia asked the girl who ignored her presence, fixating her stare on Reid who glanced at her for a quick second then turned back to Lydia with a look of confusion over his face.
"Hi, Reid," the girl began talking, "I've noticed you around. My name is Emma. I can't seem to take my eyes off you," she paused, placing a hand on his shoulder which made Reid shift his attention to her.
Lydia frowned at Emma's words and Reid noticed the way she gripped the books in her hand tighter as she visibly glared at Emma. He did not know why she was acting that way and neither did she— but he sure as hell enjoyed it.
"I was wondering if maybe, you wanna go out someday?" Emma blurted out, still smiling at the hybrid, "just the two of us? Anywhere you want." She began trailing her fingers down his arm, "whenever you want. In fact, I'm free right now. Do you wanna meet me in the janitor's closet?"
Just as Reid was about to say something, Lydia cut in, offering the girl the biggest fake smile she could muster, "sweetheart, he's busy."
"Okay, you're busy after school," Emma stated more to herself than them before she asked, "what about right now?"
"As you can see," again, it was Lydia who responded, "he's busy right now as well."
"Doing what?" Emma asked, tilting her head to the side as she stared at Reid in confusion. He didn't seem to be doing anything to her, he was just leaning against his locker.
"Me." Lydia's answer earned her a highly amused look from Reid who was not going to deny that the conversation between the two girls was entertaining him. He was in between them while they talked to each other regarding him.
Emma scoffed loudly, "oh, really? Come on Lydia, leave some for me. Ever since I've known you, all you do is whore around. I mean, don't you get tired? No wonder Jackson left—"
"— Stop talking," Lydia muttered, her lips pulling up into a fake smile, "don't talk when you don't know anything. Now, off you go."
"I didn't come to talk to you, I came for Reid," Emma looked at him, "I'll go when he tells me to."
Lydia shifted her eyes to the hybrid who turned to Emma, "it's like she said, I'm busy. And besides, I'm not interested, bye."
Emma huffed, "she's going to play with you for a while then leave you, Reid. Mark my words. I know her." With that, she walked away as Reid turned to Lydia once more.
"Jackson left because his dad sent him to London, not because of m—" Lydia was cut off by Reid, "— you don't have to explain. I'm not taking her words into consideration."
"But you should know that I don't intend on playing with you then leave—" she paused, "you know what? Come with me." Without giving him the time to question her, she grabbed his hand and dragged him in the janitor's closet, closing the door behind her.
"Okay," Reid cleared his throat as Lydia stood in front of him, she looked like she was having an internal battle with herself. "Why are we here?"
"I need to talk to you without the fear that someone's listening," she cleared her throat, "all right so... actually, when I first saw you, I wanted you— so as to distract myself from everything that's been going on, you know? I know it sounds bad when I say it out loud but it's the truth."
"Trust me, it doesn't," he muttered, "I get it."
"No, let me finish," she shot him a look, "but then I talked to you and believe it or not, I managed to grow close to you in a short span of time for some reason. It's like everything in me is screaming to be with you. I don't know what it is and honestly, it's scary because all I've been thinking about is you." Her eyes widened as she finished, unable to understand why she even said all that when she didn't mean to. "Oh my god, I did not mean to say all that. It just came out."
Reid stared at the strawberry blonde in front of him who looked rather disturbed with herself. After hearing what she said, he bit his lip, hoping that his assumptions were wrong.
But he knew it wasn't.
"Lydia," he began, wanting to test his theory, "lie to me."
She shot him a confused look, her brows furrowing, "what?"
"Just do it."
"Okay," she muttered, taking her lower lip in between her teeth, "I— I think you're hot." She frowned at her sentence. She didn't mean to say that. "I have a dog," her frown deepened, "I like reading. I— what the hell is wrong with me?"
