REID WAS TOLD TO re-shelve the library in his detention which was how he found himself surrounded by books. Curses left his mouth as he began working when Lydia walked in.
"What are you doing here?" He grabbed some book that were thrown on the table and placed them back on the shelf.
"I heard about what happened," she replied, taking a seat on the table, "I didn't know about the twins. I'm sorry about what I said."
"I don't care," he didn't bother looking at her, giving his attention to the books, "you've made it pretty clear that you see me as some crazy werewolf who goes around killing people. Wouldn't wanna get killed by being here now, would you?"
"I didn't mean that," she quickly spoke, "you know that. We're friends—"
"— Why?" He cut her off, turning to look at her with a questioning look on his face, "hmm? Why are you befriending me? Is there something you want from me? Is that it? Did someone ask you to do this?"
"What? No—" she defended, hurt flashing in her eyes at what he thought, "— why would you think that? I want to be friends with you."
"Okay, well why?" He urged, "why do you want to?"
"I don't know," she lowered her voice, "all right? I don't. I just know that I want to be friends with you. I don't— I don't want you to hate me. It's like..." She trailed off, digging her head for the right words, "my mind wants me to... stay close to you. It's weird but true."
The weirdest thing was, he felt the exact same way even though he hasn't been paying attention to it. He didn't know what was doing that— what was pulling him to her like some sort of magnet but he didn't want it. For some reason, Reid thought that being friends with her and spending some time in her company would make that thing go away but unfortunately, he could still feel it.
"You think I'm lying, don't you?" Lydia questioned, letting out a small sigh, "it's probably just this whole psychic thing. Never mind." She stared at his back which was facing her as he continued placing the books on the shelves, "point is, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. That's not what I think— it just came out."
"Okay," was all what he said. She took her bottom lip in between her teeth, frowning, "okay? That's it?"
He turned to look at her, leaning against the shelf, "I'm not sure what you want me to say, Lydia."
"I don't know, something like—" she paused, shooting him a look, "— you forgive me?"
He bit his lip, contemplating on what to say before he decided. "Only if you promise to be careful around the twins and not get yourself killed."
"I promise," a bright smile reached her lips almost instantly. She didn't know why being friends with him meant to much to her. She had no idea why him not being mad with her was a must just like she couldn't explain how happy she got when he said those words even though she has only known him for around two days.
"Okay then," he muttered, nodding towards the stash of books beside her on the table on which she was sitting, "and it would be a great if you could help me with those books. I think it's what friends would do, y'know? Help each other."
"Is that so?" She raised her brows, jumping off the table nonetheless, "I'll help you only because you didn't deserve this."
"Of course," he mused and watched as she began grabbing a few books and walked over to a shelf, placing them on it.
"So what were you and the others up to last night?" She asked in an attempt not to let silence fall upon them.
"Well— we went to save Boyd and apparently, Derek's sister was with him. Oh and what's-her-name is dead."
"Wait, Erica's dead?" She guessed, "and Derek's sister is alive?"
"Yeah," he nodded, "so they went rabid, had to chase them through the forest until Scott decided to call Argent for help then I came to you because—" he cleared his throat, "—I had this feeling that you weren't fine."
"You had this 'feeling'?" She repeated, narrowing her eyes at him in curiosity. He only hummed in response, using her words from earlier, "weird but true."
"So you feel it too?" She turned to face him, a book still in her hand. Reid nodded, "yeah, I do. But I'm sure it's nothing so let's just... Forget about it."
