Sunoo's POV

The coldness in the hospital room woke me up, my head still heavy and my heart still burdened by worry. My mother's face was peaceful as she slept, but I knew the stress and uncertainty that raged within her. I gently slipped out of bed, careful not to wake her.

Leaving a note for my mother, I left the hospital and headed back home. As I walked through the neighborhood, I could feel the eyes of the neighbors on me. Whispers and hushed conversations seemed to follow my every step, and I couldn't help but overhear the words "killer" and "murderer".

How could they judge my father without even knowing the truth? I couldn't take it anymore. I turned to a group of women who was gossiping and confronted her.

"Excuse me, but you don't know anything about my father's situation," I said, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and desperation.

One lady looked me up and down, her eyes were cold and judgmental. "Oh, dear, we all know enough. A murderer is a murderer."

My fists clenched, and I took a deep breath, trying to keep my emotions in check. "You have no right to pass judgment without knowing the facts."

Another lady then chimed in "The law is law. You're father is a scumbag who murders people for greed."

I sighed, took out a bottle of water from my bag and spilled it on her face "If you keep talking about my dad or spread false rumors about him with your annoying ass mouths, you'll see the reason what turns a person into a murderer." I eyed them before turning and walking away, my heart heavy with the weight of their judgement towards dad.

Reaching our house, I stepped inside and looked around at the familiar surroundings. But there was nothing comforting about it anymore. I started packing my clothes and other important stuff in two big bags. I also smashed my piggy bank. I was actually surprised by the money I earned from saving my lunch money. I was able to save 234,753 won.

I grabbed my bag and headed to the train station and booked a flight for tomorrow evening. That's minus 33,000 won already?! I didn't know budgeting could be this hard, how did mom and dad manage their money's?!

I then went to my College University to go to the school's teacher department. Good thing they're still open on a Sunday. Knocking on the door of my teacher, Professor Lee, I entered nervously.

"Oh Sunoo, what brings you here?" Professor Lee asked, concern in his eyes.

I took a deep breath, my words spilling out in a rush. "Sir... I need to talk to you. I can't stay in college anymore. I want to drop out and go to Seoul to earn money for my family."

He looked at me with a mix of understanding and sadness. "Oh... that must be a difficult decision for you. But remember, education is important."

Tears welled up in my eyes as I explained our situation to him, the debts, my mother's health, and the rumors surrounding my father. Professor Lee's expression softened, and he reached into his desk drawer, pulling out an envelope.

"Sunoo, take this. It's not much, but it might help you get started in Seoul," he said, handing me the envelope.

I hesitated, my pride warring with my desperation. "I-I- no sir, I can't take your money."

He placed a hand on my shoulder, his voice firm. "Sunoo, sometimes asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You're doing what you think is best for your family, and I want to support you in any way I can."

I nodded, tears streaming down my face. "Thank you, sir. I won't forget this."

He smiled warmly. "Take care, Sunoo. And remember, don't give up on your dreams. I'm still ready to accept you as my student when you get back!"
