Heeseung's POV
As I stood beside Sunoo, watching silently as Sunghoon was laid to rest, a heavy weight settled in my chest. Guilt gnawed at me relentlessly, each breath feeling like a burden I couldn't bear.
Sunoo's tears fell freely, his grief weighed heavy in the air around us. But instead of offering comfort, I found myself frozen in place, unable to ease his pain. His parents stepped in to provide comfort, their sympathetic gestures only serving to accentuate my own inadequacy.
Their disapproving glances pierced through me like daggers, adding another layer of guilt to the burden I already carried. With a heavy heart, I turned away, unable to bear the weight of their judgment.
As I retreated, the terrible heat of the day seemed to kill me, contrasting sharply with the coldness that gripped my hands. Confusion clouded my mind as I shook my hands vigorously, as if trying to drive away the chill that stayed around there.
Just then, my phone rang, shattering the heavy silence that surrounded me. With trembling hands, I answered the call, it was San.
San
{I already handled the funeral of Ms. Lee.}
Heeseung

San
{...Heeseung...?}
Heeseung
{T-Thank you... Thank you so much.}
San
{...Everything's going to be okay.}
Heeseung
{That's... impossible now.}
San
{...}
Heeseung
{I lost my Mother, and now I'm going to lose him too, all because of my actions...}
San
{Remember what you told me...?}
Heeseung
{...What?}
San
{"Everything's just temporary... Nothing lasts forever..." And not even the pain of loss. Take care Heeseung.}
As San ended the call with me, his words echoed in my mind, causing an ache in my heart. But amidst the ache, a surge of hope flickered within me. Just then, I heard a familiar voice calling out, "Hey," and I turned to see Sunoo standing there. His presence was like calming to my soul, yet it also stirred up a whirlwind of emotions.
"How was the funeral of your Mom?" Sunoo asked, his voice filled with concern. I swallowed hard, trying to compose myself before replying, "It's done. San took care of everything."
Sunoo's eyes softened with sympathy, and then he asked, "Will you stay here in Busan?"
I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of uncertainty pressing down on me. "Maybe not," I admitted, my voice trembling slightly. "I still have businesses to take care of in Seoul."
Reaching into my pocket, I retrieved a small necklace. "This has nothing in it," I murmured, moving closer to Sunoo to fasten it around his neck. As my fingers brushed against his skin, I couldn't help but confess, "I do still love you, Sunoo."
Sunoo's expression was a mixture of sadness and understanding. "I want to focus on my family for now," he said gently. I nodded, forcing a smile despite the pain in my chest. "I'll help you as much as I can," I promised.
"Thank you," Sunoo whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. And then, Sunoo said, "Goodbye, Heeseung."
I couldn't bring myself to say the word, breathing heavily again. But Sunoo seemed to sense my struggle, and he reached out and took my hand.
