Heeseung's POV

I still couldn't stop shaking from crying when San walked into the room, his usual calm demeanor replaced by barely concealed panic. "We should probably go now."

I wiped my face, trying to compose myself. Sunoo was still trembling next to me, his eyes red and swollen.

As we stumbled down the stairs, San's hand clamped onto my arm. "Heeseung. Need you for a sec."

I turned to Sunoo, forcing a calm I didn't feel. "Hey, go wait by the car. I'll be right there."

The moment Sunoo was out of earshot, San's tough-guy mask cracked. "Shit, man. This is... this is fucked up."

"What? Why? What's wrong?" I asked, trying to understand his panic.

He led me to , his hands shaking. The stench hit me like a sledgehammer – rot and copper and something worse.

"What the hell, San?" I growled, my stomach already knotting.

"Just... just look," he muttered, his voice breaking.

I yanked the lid off and felt the world tilt.

Lily...

Sky...

Their heads... Christ. So much blood.

"Oh god," I choked out, slamming the box shut. My hands were shaking, and I felt like I might throw up. "H-How... how am I supposed to tell Sunoo about this?"

San's face was grim. "That's not all. Sungjin's gone."

I ran a hand through my hair, feeling overwhelmed. "Shit. Shit, shit, shit."

San lowered his voice. "We need a plan, Heeseung. Next time they attack..."

"We'll be ready," I cut him off, my voice harder than I felt. "They're gonna die."

We made our way to the car in silence. Sunoo was already inside, looking small and scared. My heart ached for him, but I couldn't bring myself to say anything about Lily and Sky. Not yet.

I slid into the driver's seat, my knuckles white as I gripped the steering wheel. The engine roared to life, and I peeled out of the driveway, my mind racing.

I knew a place. Somewhere off the grid, hard to find. It wouldn't be comfortable, but it would keep us safe while we regrouped.

As I drove, I couldn't shake the image of those our animals. Nayoon had made this personal. And now, with Sungjin back in play, the stakes were higher than ever.

I glanced at Sunoo in the rearview mirror, then at San, Jay, and Niki behind me. They were counting on me.

The car's engine died as I pulled into the shadowy alleyway. Niki helped Jay out, the latter wincing with each movement.

Sunoo's voice cut through the tense silence. "Heeseung, where are we?"

I met his gaze in the rearview mirror. "Somewhere safe. It's better if we go low for now."

A hulking figure emerged from the darkness as we approached the door. His eyes widened slightly at the sight of me.

"Mr. Lee," he rumbled, stepping aside.

I nodded curtly. "Evening, Jae."

The heavy door swung open, revealing a pulsing club beyond. The bass thrummed through my chest as we made our way to the bar. San's eyes darted around, always on alert.
