Sunoo's POV
My heart raced as I inside the taxi. I glanced at my phone, the one precious possession I had managed to grab in my frantic escape from Heeseung's mansion. It was a lifeline, a way to connect with the outside world. But it was also a beacon, something Heeseung could use to track me down.
My trembling fingers hovered over the screen, and in an instant of carelessness, I swiped open the news notification. My heart sank as I read the headline:
Park Sunghoon Joins StarStyle: A New Era in the Fashion World.
My emotions were a whirlwind, relief, joy, and a flicker of hope all-
StarStyle, a company of the well-known Lee Heeseung, has it's new rising star: Park Sunghoon! Sunghoon came from the province of Busan and is... See More.
Heeseung... He owns StarStyle? Why would he accept Sunghoon in his company? What is he planning to do? It couldn't be a coincidence. Not with Heeseung's hand in everything I knew.
I had to reach him. I had to see him again, hold him, and apologize for everything. My thoughts raced, forming a plan as I directed the taxi driver to the address of the StarStyle building. Every second counted. I made the decision to go to Sunghoon before checking on Karina and the others.
I took out the sim card of my phone, then I held my phone on both ends and broke it with my knee. I opened the car window and threw the phone and sim card as far as I can.
Once we arrived at the imposing StarStyle building, I took a deep breath. The driver demanded payment, but I ignored him. The frustration in his voice didn't matter. "Do you have any idea what I've been through?" I hissed, my voice quivering with a mix of emotions.
He frowned, clearly taken aback by my outburst. I didn't give him the chance to respond. I grabbed his cap, then I threw open the taxi door and stumbled out onto the sidewalk, my eyes scanning the bustling street for any sign of Heeseung's men. I couldn't afford to be followed.
I moved towards the back of the taxi and took off the license plate, bent it, and flung it away. The driver shouted after me, but I didn't look back.
My heart pounded as I approached the entrance of the building, only hidden with a cap. My every instinct screamed that Heeseung was not far behind, and my survival depended on stealth. I hugged the shadows, avoiding the prying eyes of the CCTV cameras that lined the exterior.
My heart leaped into my throat as I rounded a corner and came face to face with a security guard. Panic surged through me as I noticed his curious gaze, and I knew I couldn't let him raise an alarm.
Without thinking, I lunged forward, aiming a powerful punch at the guard's jaw. He crumpled to the ground with a groan, unconscious. My heart pounded as I grabbed his keycard, "Sorry..." muttering a quick apology to the man who had unwittingly become my victim.
