Sunoo's POV
...
...
...
I sat there in this stupid, gray police station, staring at nothing. My mind kept replaying what had happened, over and over. Minho and Jake were gone. Just... gone. It didn't feel real. How could they be dead? We had all been together just yesterday, laughing and joking around. Now they were just... not here anymore.
I felt my hands tighten into fists. My eyes started to burn, and I blinked hard, trying to hold back the tears. I wasn't gonna cry. Not here. Not now. But it felt like everything inside me was shattering into a million pieces.
I heard footsteps, and then Heeseung was there. "Hey," he said softly.
I looked up at him, feeling completely drained. Before I could say anything, he pulled me into a hug. That's when I lost it. All the tears I had been holding back just came pouring out. I was sobbing into his shirt, and I could feel him shaking too. We were both falling apart.
After what felt like forever, Heeseung pulled back a little. His eyes were red and puffy. "We need to find Nayoon now," he said, his voice hoarse.
I shook my head. "I can't... I can't lose anyone else. Please, Heeseung. I'm scared."
"But we have to," Heeseung insisted. "We can't let her get away with this."
"So what?" I snapped, suddenly angry. "What can Nayoon even do? What can any of us do? Minho and Jake are dead!"
Heeseung looked surprised at my outburst. "A lot, actually. With Subin's people-"
"Is that all you care about?" I cut him off, my voice rising. "Taking down your enemies?"
"What? No!" Heeseung's eyes went wide. "How can you say that?"
"Because it's true!" I yelled, not caring that we were in a police station. "Minho and Jake just died, and you're already planning the next move! Don't you even care?"
Heeseung's face crumpled. "Of course I care!" he shouted back, tears streaming down his face. "They were my friends too, Sunoo! How can you think I don't care?"
"Then why are you talking about Nayoon?" I demanded, my whole body shaking. "Our friends are dead, Heeseung! Dead! And all you can think about is revenge?"
"I'm trying to protect us! Because if we don't kill that bitch, she's gonna keep coming for us, and..." Heeseung yelled, his voice breaking. "I can't lose you too, Sunoo, I can't..."
"Protect us?" I laughed bitterly. "By putting us in more danger? That's how Minho and Jake died in the first place!"
Heeseung reached for me, but I pushed him away. "Don't touch me!" I screamed. "This is all your fault! If you hadn't gotten involved with Subin in the first place-"
"My fault?" Heeseung looked like I'd slapped him. "How can you say that? I never wanted any of this to happen!"
"But it did happen!" I was sobbing now, barely able to get the words out. "They're gone, Heeseung! They're gone and they're never coming back!"
Heeseung broke down completely, sliding to the floor. "I'm sorry," he sobbed. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean... I never wanted..."
I wanted to comfort him, but I was too angry, too hurt. I couldn't even look at him right then.
