Heeseung's POV
*BANG*
Then the door burst open, and men dressed as policemen with masks flooded in. They tasered Sungjin, who dropped to the floor, convulsing. The police took him away, while some of them helped me back onto my feet.
One of the men removed his mask, revealing... Niki? Wait... Was this Sunoo's-
"Sunoo's plan," he said, interrupting my thoughts.
I smirked, feeling proud and thankful for Sunoo. "Should we get you discharged?" Niki asked.
I nodded, despite the ache in my body. "Yeah, let's get out of here."
Sunoo's POV
They got Sungjin into the car, his hands bound. He tried to plead his case, desperation in his voice. "Lee Heeseung and Kim Sunoo killed my son, sir. If your son got killed, what would-"
I pulled off my mask, interrupting him. "No, we didn't. Now shut up."
Sungjin was stunned into silence. As the car took a sharp turn, he attempted to elbow me. I glanced at San, who was sitting beside Sungjin, and nodded. San grabbed Sungjin’s face and punched him, knocking him out instantly.
"Thank you," I said, relieved.
When we arrived at the resthouse, Lily and Sky greeted me enthusiastically. I ruffled their fur. "Jake, Jay, please take the dogs outside and play with them."
They nodded and led the dogs away. I signaled to San and Minho to take Sungjin to Heeseung's office. We tied him to a chair, and I used a taser to jolt him awake.
Sungjin's eyes snapped open, filled with anger and confusion. "Welcome back," I said, my voice steady. "We have some unfinished business."
I knelt on one knee beside him. "Sungjin, please, let me explain. I never wanted this to escalate," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
Sungjin's eyes filled with tears. "My son... Sunghoon, he's... he's gone..." he sobbed.
I felt his pain, the pain of losing someone important, "I'm... I'm so sorr-"
"AND YOU MOTHERFUCKERS KILLED HIM!" He cut me off with a furious shout.
I turned the taser on, the crackling sound filling the room. "Shut your fucking mouth, or I'll burn your tongue."
Sungjin glared at me, but he fell silent. "We, Heeseung, I, and everyone else here, didn’t kill Sunghoon," I started, my voice heavy with emotion. "I loved Sunghoon, more than anything. But you and your family knew what happened to my father. The whole town knew. I had to come here to get money to save him."
I saw a flicker of doubt in Sungjin's eyes as I continued. "Heeseung offered me money, but in exchange for becoming his wife. I accepted it, but I broke up with Sunghoon the same day because I didn’t want him to get involved in this. I had to do it for my family."
"Sunghoon followed me here, and I tried my best to protect him because he had nothing to do with all of this. He didn’t deserve to be caught in the middle," I said, my voice breaking.
Sungjin's face softened as he listened, tears streaming down my face. "But a guy, Jungwon, he fucked things up. I managed to convince Heeseung and Sunghoon to work together to stop Jungwon. We were okay for a moment, then Jungwon shot Heeseung and Sunghoon. And Sunghoon..."
I couldn't hold back the sobs any longer. I knelt on the floor, my body shaking as I cried. The weight of the memories and the loss was overwhelming.
Then, I felt a hand on my arm. I looked up to see Heeseung standing beside me. I rose to my feet, and Heeseung moved as if to lunge at Sungjin. Sungjin flinched, but I held Heeseung back. He stepped behind me, seething with anger.
