Heeseung's POV
I woke up to the sight of Sunoo already awake, I slowly blinked my eyes open, feeling the heaviness of sleep slowly lifting. Sunoo was already awake, sitting beside me on the bed. His greeting caught me by surprise, "Good morning, Hee."
I grumbled sleepily, "What's with the sudden politeness? Do you need something?"
He looked down at his feet, where the tracking device had kept him a virtual prisoner. "Just wondering how school would be with this thing on."
I sighed, sitting up. Without a word, I moved to my drawer, retrieved the key, and unlocked the device from his feet. I handed him a new phone, my expression cold. "This phone has a tracker," I warned, my tone firm. "Don't think about doing anything foolish. It won't end well for you, or anyone involved."
Sunoo's reaction was unexpected. He leaned in and kissed me gently on the cheek, thanking me. My heart skipped a beat, but I kept my composure, not allowing any warmth to creep into my voice. "G-Get ready. I'll drive you to school."
As Sunoo went to shower, I felt my phone vibrate with an incoming call. Frowning, I answered. It was one of my subordinates, his voice tense. "Boss, there's something you should know. Sunghoon has withdrawn from the company. He's gone."
My anger flared. Sunghoon's departure wasn't part of the plan. "What? Why? Find him and bring him back immediately!"
"Sir, I think he knows you own the company now..."
I hung up abruptly, feeling a headache starting to throb at my temples. These unexpected developments were making everything more complicated than I had anticipated.
I clenched my jaw, my knuckles turning white. Sunghoon's departure was the last thing I needed right now.
The headache that had been building over the past few days intensified. I massaged my temples, trying to alleviate the pain, but it only seemed to grow worse.
This situation was spiraling out of control, and I couldn't help but feel that I was losing my grip on everything.
As we sat down for breakfast, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm food filled the room. I pushed my plate aside, my appetite still absent due to the throbbing headache that refused to relent. Sunoo, ever observant, noticed my lack of appetite.
"You're not eating?" he asked, concern in his voice.
I placed a hand on my forehead and sighed. "I have a headache."
Without hesitation, Sunoo got up from his seat and moved to sit beside me. He picked up a spoon, loaded it with food, and with a playful smile, he mimicked an airplane.
"Come on," he coaxed gently. "Open up."
Despite my discomfort, I couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the situation. I opened my mouth obediently, allowing him to feed me a small bite. The warmth of the food was comforting, and for a moment, the pain in my head seemed to fade.
Sunoo continued with his airplane impersonation, spoon-feeding me more bites. It was a simple, almost childlike gesture, but it eased the tension between us. His kindness was disarming, and I found myself laughing genuinely for the first time in what felt like forever.
"You really don't have to do this," I said between bites.
Sunoo paused, looking into my eyes with a sincerity that was both unexpected and touching. "I know," he replied softly. "But I want to."
