Chapter twenty two

"It'll be okay."

Everyone was invited to the Lockwood's to help set up for masquerade party, as Athena was standing and getting crates of glasses piled onto her arms by Mrs Lockwood "how's your mother doing, I heard she was sick?" Mrs Lockwood asked her, as Athena smiled "um, I think she was starting to feel better today. She should be back to work by tomorrow." she shared "good." Mrs Lockwood told her, pointing behind her "take those to the backyard and set them up at the long tables." she shared, as Athena nodded, turning around and walking off to the backyard.

She couldn't really see where she was going, as Stefan stepped in front of her "whoa, hey, let me take two of those." he shared, grabbing two of the boxes, Athena chuckled "I think Mrs Lockwood was using my strength against me seeing as last time I spoke to her, I blamed her dead husband for me and my sister almost dying." she shared, as Stefan hummed, he began walking toward's the back as Athena followed him, the two headed down the steps, into the backyard.

"So when do you, you know?" Athena asked him, as they walked over to the table that the glasses were supposed to be put down on, they stepped around it and put the crates down "um, probably when there's less eyes on us." Stefan shared, as Athena nodded, the two began taking the glasses out of the boxes, the two then noticed Mason walking over "hey, Stefan." he told them as he walked past "hey, Mason." Stefan told him, as Mason put his basket down and turned to them "wasn't expecting you here or anywhere especially with Athena." he shared.

"Yeah, I had this little accident. But, uh, I'm fine now." Stefan told him, as Mason walked over to them, Athena had grabbed another glass, as Mason grabbed her wrist, she looked up at him, as Stefan stopped what he was doing and glared at him "what'd you do to your mother?" Mason asked her "oh, she's fine, too." Stefan told him, as he stepped closer to Athena "but if you know what's good for you, I'd let her go." he told him, staring him down, as Mason then let go of Athena's wrist "no problem." he said, as he turned around, walking off, he bumped into Bonnie "oh!" Bonnie voiced, turning to him, she froze "excuse me." Mason told her, as he continued walking off.

Athena was looking at her, while Stefan was staring down at the bruise on her wrist that Mason had left "Bonnie?" Athena asked her, stepping around him and walking out from behind the table, Stefan followed her "what's wrong?" Athena asked her, as Bonnie turned to her "when I touched him, I saw something." she shared "what exactly did you see?" Athena asked her "I saw Elena." Bonnie shared, as Stefan raised his brows "you saw Elena?" he asked her "he was kissing her." Bonnie shared, as Stefan furrowed his brows "no, Bonnie, Elena wouldn't kiss.." he told her "but Katherine would." Athena finished his thought, as Stefan nodded.

Damon then had walked up to them, as Athena and Stefan walked off with him to talk somewhere privately sharing the information they just learned "Katherine's with Mason Lockwood?" Damon asked, as the three paced back and forth "we missed it. He got into town right after she did. It makes perfect sense." Stefan shared "or he even could've been on his way here before Mr Lockwood even died!" Athena voiced, as Damon stopped and turned to them "I know, but Mason Lockwood? Werewolf thing aside, the guys a surfer. She's gotta be using him. She has to be." Damon shared.

"Using him for what?" Stefan asked him "Mason Lockwood's looking for a moon stone that allegedly can break the full moon werewolf curse. Maybe Katherine want's it as well." Damon shared "why? She already can walk in the sun?" Athena asked him "well, uh, no idea." Damon shared, as he turned around "it's the beauty of Katherine. She's always up to something." he shared "so, how are we gonna find this moon stone?" Stefan asked, as Damon turned back to them "Jermey's getting it from Tyler." he told them.
