141. THE MOMENT I SAW YOU THINGS CHANGED

Chapter one hundred and forty one

"The moment I saw you things changed."

It was night time in Las Vegas, where at Caesars palace in the penthouse suit, a rogue group of vampires were feeding on their guest until the double doors were kicked open, Athena and Annabeth stood there with guns, as two vampires turned to them hissing, the two shot them, as their bodies fell over, and as they did the other vampires in the room noticed them, as Athena and Annabeth dropped their guns, they pulled out their angel blade swords and ran at them, jumping over the couch, they cut two of their heads off.

As they landed down on the ground, one of them grabbed Annabeth's hand as she groaned kicking her leg up and sending him flying into the lamp in the corner, the strobe lights that were in the room were blinking on and off, where anyone who would look up would think they were having a good time, as two of the vampires grabbed Athena and swung her, she went flying through the glass window that looked into the bathroom, as she landed on the ground, she looked to the tub seeing two dead bodies, she huffed, knowing this was gonna be one big mess to clean up, as she pushed herself up and ran back out the broken window.

She jumped, wrapping her legs around one of their necks, she spun around, snapping their neck and as their body fell to the ground, she rolled off of it, and stood up, stabbing one of them through the back, she pulled her sword out and noticed Annabeth on the ground being bitten on the wrist as she reached for her blade that was behind her, she finally grabbed it and shoved it through the vampires chest, and shoved him off of her body, Athena walked over to her and gave her hand, helping her up.

The two of them then cleaned up, left everything that wouldn't be questionable to house keeping and headed back downstairs where the valet brought their car around, the two got into it and drove back to mystic falls.

When morning came, Stefan was sleeping upstairs, as he rolled over hoping Athena would be there but when he put his arm, there the bed was cold like it hadn't even been slept in, as he furrowed his brows, he sat up, and got out of bed, heading downstairs, he heard sounds coming from the kitchen as he walked toward's it "this bite still hurts." Annabeth shared "it's only been a few hours." Athena shared, as Stefan walked in, he noticed not the fact the two were eating breakfast and that Annabeth was chugging a glass of blood but that the two looked like they had been through hell "did I miss something?" he asked.

"There were these rumors in Vegas about these creatures feeing on people. Me and mom thought we'd go check it out and it turns out it was this nest full of vampires. We killed all of them, right mom?" Annabeth asked, as Athena nodded "yep." she said, as Stefan walked over "why didn't you tell me? I could've come with you guys." he shared, and when he did, Athena and Annabeth gave each other these looks "what does that mean?" Stefan asked, as Athena raised her brows "what does what mean?" she asked.

"You and Annabeth just gave each other a look." Stefan shared, as Athena furrowed her brows "we didn't give each other a look." she told him, as her and Annabeth continued to eat their breakfast which consisted of eggs, bacon and toast, Stefan sat down at the table "come on tell me, I can take it." he shared "we just didn't wanna bother you." Annabeth told him "bother me?" Stefan asked, looking to Athena "well ever since Damon and Enzo went missing you've been focused on looking at missing person cases to find them and while you were doing that I've been taking Annabeth out to kill monsters. You just haven't noticed till now." Athena shared.

"Oh, come on, I haven't been that wrapped up in.." Stefan shared, as his phone beeped, and as it did, he pulled out his phone "they found a body." he said, standing up, and as he did, Athena raised her brows "case in point." she said, as Stefan leaned down kissing her on the lips, he walked around the table, kissing Annabeth on the cheek, he ran out of the kitchen.

After breakfast, Athena and Annabeth had gone and showered and then took a nap, where the two had woken up when the sun was going down and as they were exiting the house to go get some dinner at the grill to at least get out of the house, Annabeth noticed someone in a black hood standing in there driveway "hey!" she voiced, and when she did, the person turned running off and as they did, Annabeth began running after them, where as Athena walked out of the house, she saw her running off "Annabeth!" she yelled, running after her.

Where Annabeth had been following that person for miles throughout the woods, until the moment she saw him got grabbed "let go of me!" the boy voiced, as Athena grabbed Annabeth hiding the two behind a tree "I don't think so. You've been watching us for months and I plan to find out why." Enzo shared, as he began carrying him off, Annabeth began following after them as Athena followed behind her.

Enzo had taken the boy to a warehouse "Damon, I've found the person who's been watching us. Although it's not quite exactly a person actually seeing as it's a merely a boy." he shared, holding him up off the ground his neck, the boy put his hands on his neck trying to break free, Damon looked to him and as he did Enzo noticed Bonnie and Stefan were there as well "I didn't come alone." the boy croaked out, as Enzo looked to him "what do you mean?" he asked, and as he did, Athena and Annabeth came running through the tarps behind him and slid on the ground, cutting him in the legs with their angel blades.

Enzo fell to his knees, dropping the boy and as he did, Athena caught him and moved him behind her and as she did, she missed how the boy and Annabeth looked into each other's eyes and when they did it was like time stopped "let's go." Athena told them, turning around and making sure the boy and Annabeth headed out first, she followed them, as Stefan and Bonnie followed her.

They all had piled into Stefan's car, where they had driven Bonnie home as she sat in the passenger seat, Athena was sitting in the back in the middle where she was asleep along with the boy and Annabeth, as they soon arrived at the cabin "you haven't said a word. I know that was hard. That wasn't Enzo. That wasn't Damon. They're not in control. But all those clues..the guitar string and the odometer..Enzo left them for me. I know it. And finding that boy." Bonnie shared, turning and looking to the backseat "even though he seemed to not know that he wasn't alone. I think he knew Athena and Annabeth were following them." she shared, looking back to the front.

"He wanted us to find them. Next time, we'll get them back from whatever it is that has a hold of them. Not twelve hours ago, you were telling me..have hope. You were right." she shared "he said it was my fault. He's said it before, so I don't know why it hurt so much. This time, it feels like..he may never forgive me." Stefan shared, looking to the backseat "just like them." he said, looking to her "maybe, you were right this morning." he told her "no. No, you were right. You told me there was hope. Now, just take a minute, pull yourself together and go find yours." Bonnie shared, getting out of the car.

Getting back to the house, Annabeth was sitting with the boy in the living room, as Athena walked in with hot chocolate, handing the two cups, she sat down in front of them "you've been watching them and if you knew where to find us, that means you were watching us too." she shared "I needed to know who I could trust." the boy shared "and?" Athena asked him, raising her brows, the boy smirked "you two I can trust." he shared, drinking his hot chocolate "so who are you?" Annabeth asked, as the boy looked to her "names Jace. Jace Lightwood. And that thing those people are being controlled by?" he asked, looking to Annabeth.

"It's the kind of things I kill." he added on "and what kind of things are those?" Athena asked "demons. I'm half human half angel. A shadowhunter. And when that siren get's out? She's gonna kill anyone that tries to stop her." Jace shared "well, I'm Athena, the girl sitting next to you is Annabeth. And we may not be part angel but we're like you. We hunt and kill things. And we're gonna help you fight it. But first.." Athena shared, standing up "it's been a long night and I'm sure all of us are hungry and I made mac and cheese so let's eat and rest up, and we'll figure the rest out in the morning." she shared, as Jace and Annabeth stood up, walking out of the living room, Athena followed after them.
