Chapter one hundred and twelve

"Love that let's go."

Caroline had decided that turning her's dad's old cabin in a place where their mom could stay in her final moment's was the best, as Stefan drove up there with them "if you really think about it, Jermey leaving is for the best." Caroline shared, as they got out of the car, Athena leaned into the backseat grabbing the carrier "I'm sure everything around here reminds him of Bonnie and Elena's always wanted to protect him from vampire drama. Granted, he is going to art school. Where the percentage rate for a well paying job is one of the lowest in the country, but I really am happy for him." Caroline shared.

"Well, Caroline they don't exactly have a college that excepts people who can hunt and kill monsters. And seeing as he's died multiple times I'm sure a low paying job will be just fine." Athena shared, looking to the trunk "and second I think you packed too much." she informed her "the whole point of this is for mom to live out the rest of her time here in a relaxed and peaceful environment. Surrounded by the things that she loves, like photo albums and board games." Caroline shared, as Stefan grabbed three of the boxes out of the trunk.

"Caroline I know you've died once and it was by the hands of a psycho vampire but normally when people are dying or about to die, they don't wanna be surrounded by material things that they love. They wanna be surrounded by the people they love. Which means the anthology of Shakespeare volumes one through twelve isn't gonna isn't gonna be touched." Athena shared "you don't know that." Caroline told her, as Athena's phone rang, she pulled it out of her pocket and as she did, it was their mom "hello." she told her "your sister snuck out of the house this morning without so much as a hello. I may be a retired sheriff, but I am still a mother. What are you up to?" their mom asked.

As Caroline glared at Athena "I think if I tell you, Caroline might kill me." Athena shared "at least tell me if you and Stefan are being held hostage." their mom shared, as Athena laughed "possibly. Why'd you call?" she asked her, as Stefan and Caroline began carrying boxes inside "I was just thinking about the day you came back, you weren't that six year old girl anymore you were fourteen and had become your father's daughter, didn't speak or smile, I wasn't even your mother anymore. And that same night.." her mom shared, as Athena took a deep breath "if this is about anything that happened to cause the accident I don't know." she shared "okay. I'll let you get back to helping Caroline." her mom told her, as Athena chuckled "I'll see you later." she told her "okay." her mom told her, as the two hung up.

Later on, Athena was sitting on a blanket on the porch with Annabeth while Stefan was on a ladder in front of her fixing one of the lights, although Athena was more focused on his biceps "your staring." Stefan told her "admiring actually." Athena told him, as Stefan climbed down the ladder, he walked over to her, he crouched down, kissing her, Athena kissed him back, she put her arms around his neck pulling him close to her, she laid down on the blanket, the two making out "we're so not helping." Stefan told her "my mom called me because she was thinking about when the day I had come home. How she seemed to remember me so well and yet all she was to me was a strange women wasn't my mother." Athena shared.

"Well, it's like you said, it's not what you do in your final moments it's about the moments that led up to them." Stefan shared, Athena then furrowed her brows "my father wasn't on the other side. Do you think he's waiting for her in peace? Or do you think because of all the creatures he killed he's in hell?" she questioned "Athena.." Stefan told her, as Athena sat up "I need to go see my mother." she told him, getting up, she grabbed the carrier, and turned to walk down the steps, Stefan grabbed the blanket "let me drive you and I'll come back and get Caroline." he shared, walking after her.

Athena turned to him "but we should tell her that we're leaving." she told him "if we do she's not gonna let us get in the car." Stefan told her, as Athena laughed, walking to the car, Stefan followed her.

Having been dropped off at the police station, Athena was carrying Athena in the carrier as she walked down to her mother's office "Athena?" Damon asked her "Caroline doesn't know I'm here but I couldn't take it anymore and I needed to be here." Athena shared, putting Athena down on the chair "sweetheart.." her mom told her "because I realized that I couldn't be there for mama or my dad because they wanted me to save Elena to where when I got back there they drowned and so did I. Then I got father back and it was everything I wanted until I was forced to watch him get his head cut off in front of me and I passed out." Athena shared.

"Athena.." Damon told her "so I know I may not be able to stop this either but nothing." Athena shared, sitting down "is gonna keep me from being with you when you go." Athena told her, and when she did, Damon realized how hard this was hitting her even if she wasn't showing it like Caroline was "I'll go get the car." Damon shared, walking out, Athena's mom sighed as she stood up, taking off her badge, she put it down on her desk, as she stood up "let's go home." she told her, turning off the desk lamp, Athena stood up, grabbing the carrier, her mom put her arm around her, as the two walked out.

Having gone home, Athena got her mother into bed "you called me about accident because you wanted me to give you one last adventure." she told her, laughing, and when she did her mom laughed with her "I did everything right, Athena. I lived a good life. I took care of my family." her mom told her, as Athena took her hand "well I hate to break it to you but for someone who raised two extraordinary daughters and married an extraordinary man it seems the one thing that the world left to be ordinary was your death." she shared, as her and her mom were crying "I'm exceptionally ordinary. I'm ok with that. Because like you said, the rest of you are extraordinary." her mom shared.

"Close your eyes." Athena told her "why?" her mom asked her "I wanna show you someone your not gonna get to meet." Athena shared, and as she did, her mom closed her eyes and as she did, Athena closed her's.

Standing in front of the house, her mom furrowed her brows "what are we doing here?" she asked, as Stefan's car pulled up on the road and as it did, Stefan got out of the drivers seat but as he did, someone climbed out of the backseat, with long brown hair and green eyes as a ten year old girl ran toward's them "grandma!" Annabeth voiced, running toward's her "whoa, whoa, slow down!" Stefan voiced, as Annabeth ran up, Athena's mom lifted her up in her arms "oh! Look at you!" she voiced, laughing, Stefan walked up putting his arm around Athena, the two smiled at her, as Athena's mom smiled at Annabeth, glad she got to see her all grown up.

And when Athena let go of her hand, Caroline was sitting across the bed, Stefan was holding Annabeth as him, Elena and Damon all stood behind Athena "do you think she found him?" Athena asked, looking to them all "in peace?" she asked.

In heaven, Liz was walking through the woods and as she came out of it, there was a cabin and in front of her there was a tall man with long white hair chopping wood with an axe as he swung it down, a smile came across her face, as the man stopped and looked up, it was Rhaegar, as he dropped the axe and smiled at her "I've been waiting for you." he told her, walking toward's her "sorry I took so long." Liz told him, walking toward's him, the two met halfway, as Rhaegar kissed her Liz kissed him back, as the two pulled away, Rhaegar put his arm around her and began leading her toward's the cabin.
