Chapter fifty six

"I can't live without you."

Sitting in the passenger seat, a fourteen year old Athena was staring out the window, watching as they drove past the sign saying welcome to mystic falls "Athena?" Miranda asked her, and as she did, Athena turned her "yeah?" she asked her "are you okay with being back here? I know it's been a while and you've just been silent since we got in the car." Miranda shared, as Athena shrugged "I just never expected to come back here again. I mean, Caroline's not gonna like me, I barley know this women your making me go back to and I'm just supposed to be okay with it?" she asked her.

As Miranda smiled at her "Athena, baby? You'll be fine. And you have my number and know where I live if things get too weird for you, besides your gonna be fifteen soon, it was time we put you back into normal society. And at this point, we've trained you enough, your ready for anything, supernatural, that is. Public school is a totally different story." she shared, making Athena laugh "but if anything ever just get's too hard, remember what I always told you, pain.." Miranda shared.

"Pain only makes you stronger." Athena told her, as Miranda soon pulled the car off to he side "that's my girl." she told her, parking the car, she leaned over and kissed Athena on the forehead, as she ran her hands through her hair "I'll bring your stuff by later." she told her, as Athena turned, looking from her and at the house, she barley knew "you'll be okay." Miranda told her, as Athena took a deep breath, she put her hand on the handle and opened the door, getting out of the car.

Then the memory changed, as Athena was sitting in the kitchen across from her mother, with a pizza box in front of them, where Athena was eating a lot more then her mom seeing, as she was just staring at her, like she hardly even recognized her "your so grown up. I mean, your still a kid but your a teenager now." she shared, as Athena looked up at her not saying anything, as her mom reached her hands out to her's "you can talk to me." she told her, although before her hands could touch her's.

Athena pulled them back, feeling like she barley knew this women "can I...can I go back in my room?" she asked her "sure you can, sweetie." her mom told her, as Athena grabbed her plate, taking her slice of pizza with her, she walked down the hallway, and into her room, shutting the door behind her, she let out a breath she was holding in, as she slid down the door and continued to eat her pizza, but as she looked at the window, she put her plate on the ground as she stood up walking over to it, she unlocked it and opened it up, sticking her head out of it, she looked at how the sun was in the sky, and knew by nightfall she was gonna make her escape, as she ducked back inside, shutting the window and turning back into her room.

That night, Athena was running through the woods, having no idea where she was going, jumping off of a hill, she landed back on the ground on her own two feet and as she did, she kept running and as she did, she didn't notice the guy in the woods notice her, and as he did, he began running after her, wanting to help her.

Where as Athena kept running, she had ran all the way to wickery bridge, stopping at the edge of it, she let out a breath, but as she did, she saw the skid marks on the road, and the bridge broken, her eyes went wide, running over to it, she looked down, seeing a car down there, she turned, seeing there was some road behind her, she stepped back and gave herself a running start, as she then jumped off, diving into the water, swimming down.

And unknowing to her, Athena was no longer asleep but during her entire memory of that night, she had ended up back at wickery bridge, where once again, she was standing in front of the broken bridge and when she looked down just like all those years before, she she saw a car down there, but this time she didn't need to know there was more road behind her, as she backed up, and ran, jumping off the bridge, she dove into the water once again, swimming down, making it down there, she made it to the driver's side of the car and pulled on the handle, breaking the handle off, she open the door.
