097. HOW I WOULD DIE

Chapter ninety seven

"How I would die."

Having lived countless lives, and died in countless different ways, death wasn't knew to Athena, even in this life she had died countless times for the people she loved and she was just lucky enough that on her first death bed she claimed that she would die a thousand deaths to be with the man she loved. Where even though he may have been a monster, the one's that come after him were different, they were kind, loving and would do anything for her and in this life that included being able to bring her back to life. 

Where even in death surrounded in darkness, her only thoughts were Stefan, having never thought how this life would end, but seeing as last time she was awake and she saw the travelers cutting into her wrists so they could take her blood, she thought dying alongside the man she loved was a good way to go. Knowing that if they didn't make it in this lifetime, then in a couple years are so the two would get a chance to try again.

Markos stood in the room, watching her lay lifeless on the table, he ran his hand through her hair, knowing they had gotten all the blood they could from her, turning and walking out, he left her to die, although that night the door opened again and a women ran in, throwing a blanket over Athena, she picked her dead body up in her arms and ran out of there.

Where as morning came, the women was driving, as Athena lied next to her in the car, wearing a baseball hat and a hoodie, she gasped, sitting up, she looked around her breathing heavy "easy, easy. Here." the women told her, handing Athena a burger, Athena's mind wanted to not take it but every fiber in her being was screaming for food as she ripped it out of her hand began eating it, the women chuckled "thought you'd be hungry." she shared, and as she did, Athena looked down at her wrists seeing the cuts on them were healed, she looked to the women and stared at her.

As the women looked back at her "easy. Before you choose to kill me. My names Maria, I chanted a spell so your wrist would heal which is how your even alive right now and the reason your sitting in a truck eating a burger rather then being buried under ground." she shared, and when she did, Athena turned around seeing more burgers, she reached for them and began eating another one, keeping her head down, the truck soon came to a stop "h..oh. Not what I was expecting." Elena's voice filled her ears.

Athena lifted her head up and looked to her and when she did, she saw Stefan standing there as well, and when Stefan looked at her, from the moment he had woken up and was chained to that table he was afraid and not for himself but of what they could be doing to her after what they had done to him but he knew one thing, he would see her again, he just wasn't sure if it would be in this lifetime. And yet here she was. Alive.

The two of them then got in the car as they began driving off, Elena was sitting in the middle while Athena sat on Stefan's lap, she was eating another burger while Stefan had his arms wrapped around her waist "it was too risky to haul all of you out of there myself so I had to circle back." Maria shared "won't they kill you for helping us out?" Stefan asked "yes, which is why we need to make sure that they don't get to me before I get to my husband. I assume you know where he is." Maria shared, as Stefan sighed "well, seeing as how he's permanently passengered into one of our best friends, yeah." Elena shared.

"So the doppelgangers are fated soulmates." Maria shared, looking to Athena and Stefan, as Athena threw down the wrapped "so you saved us all because of your husband? Yet if he ran from Markos and never came back aren't you to basically I don't know..as dead as we are?" she asked "Markos is focused on breaking the curse so that the travelers can settle permanently in your hometown. I'll have a head start if I can get to Julian before Markos starts the spell." Maria shared "we're not just gonna let you take Tyler." Stefan shared.
