Chapter forty one

"Your in my mind, body and soul."

The next morning, Athena was practicing using her sword as her and Hermes were fighting with each other, Athena charged at him, as metal clashed against metal, Hermes pulled away and as he swung at her, Athena ducked underneath it as she spun around swinging at him, her sword clashed into his again "I thought you said you never used a sword?" Hermes asked her "no, I said I never had one of my own not that I didn't learn how to fight with one." Athena shared, as Hermes pulled his back and swung at her, Athena spun around blocking it again and again, still in her crouched position, she then stood up and blocked his as he went for her head.

Athena stepped back "maybe we should stop before either of us actually kill each other?" she asked "good idea." Hermes told her, as he spun his sword in his hand "so who exactly are you going after?" he asked her "I don't know. All I know is she's a witch who's finding out me and my friend didn't die in the sacrifice and seeing as the guy who killed us is a total maniac I would like to cut the head off the snake before he finds out too much. Which means I need to go now and find her." Athena shared, still wearing the dress from last night, as she turned, going to walk off.

Hermes furrowed his brows "maybe wielding your sword out in a town full of people is not a good way to start the day." he shared, as Athena stopped, turning to him "what am I supposed to do with it? Cause as of right now it's my only weapon." she shared "spin it." Hermes told her, as Athena raised her brows "spin it?" she asked "yeah, like this." Hermes told her, spinning his, it disappeared, as Athena's eyes went wide, she spun hers and as it did, it glowed and turned into something that could fit in her pocket "and when I want it to be a sword again?" she asked "just spin it, flick it, any cool battle move should do the trick." Hermes shared.

As Athena nodded "okay then. Thank you, for all your help." she told him, as Hermes smiled "it's my job. And now that I'm done with my work here, I'll be on my way to my next one so if there's anything else you need." he shared, Athena smiled "I'm not usually the frightening girl you see in front of you. But you know that." she shared, furrowing his brows, Hermes hummed "I do. Even more so that I would never wanna be on your bad side." he shared, as Athena chuckled, turning around, walking out.

Walking through the city, Athena could tell she was a bit over dressed, she then began to feel an excruciating pain in her head "ah." she said, stumbling over she put her hand's on the wall and as she did, she knew it was Stefan, as she took a deep breath, she pushed herself off the wall, and began fighting through the pain as she continued walking down the side walk.

Meanwhile, Stefan was now laying on a table, his shirt was off, and his arms were held out but when he tried to move he couldn't as he groaned "what is this? Why can't I move?" he asked "relax. It's just a little paralysis spell. Nothing major." the witch Gloria told him as she cut into his right arm and down to his wrist, Stefan grunted "just gotta get the information out of your pretty little head." Gloria told him, walking around the table to the other side "you know, witches nowadays" she shared, cutting into his left arm "they're into that new age stuff, but.." she shared, as Stefan groaned, looking at it and as he did, he recalled to what had to happen to Athena.

"I'm a little more old school voodoo." Gloria shared, walking around him, she grabbed something else, as Stefan fought through the pain "mm. Stop that pesky healing." Gloria said, as she cut into his right arm again, Stefan screamed "I won't tell you anything." he told her, as Gloria walked around to the other side doing the same thing to his left arm, Stefan screamed again "you don't have to." Gloria told him, as Stefan's blood began dripping down not healing "you feel that? That's your essence. Your spirit. It let's me make a connection." Gloria shared, throwing her hands up "herbs help too." she told him, walking back over to her stuff.

"Diviners, sage, witch hazel. But my personal favorite.." Gloria shared, walking over to him "vervain.." she told him, as Stefan looked at her, Gloria put her hands on his chest as he screamed.

And she had been torturing him for hours, as Stefan was breathing heavy "I'm impressed. You've got discipline, Stefan. It's not gonna do you much good, but.." Gloria told him, as she walked back over to him "just let go, honey." she told him, putting her hands on his chest again, Stefan screamed "there we go, there we go." Gloria said, as Stefan screamed again, Gloria began seeing images of Stefan and Elena "there's the girl with the necklace." she said, as Stefan screamed "you love her. You'd do anything for..her." Gloria shared, shaking her head "no, no, no, there's..there's someone else other then the girl with the necklace, she's the one you'd do anything for and you've probably have but you just won't let me see." she shared.

As Stefan screamed "whoever..whoever she is, you..you miss her deeply, you even have hope mixed in with darkness and guilt. Why? What's so special about this one? Do you also want to keep her away from Klaus. Why would he be interested in the two girls?" Gloria asked "don't do this. Don't do this." Stefan begged her and when he did, he thought of Athena "let him go! Let him go!" Athena yelled, and Gloria saw that, followed by her death along with Elena's, she then moved her hands away from him "she's the doppelganger. She's supposed to be dead just like the other one who your trying to hide from me but her brutal death slipped through. They're both supposed to be dead, and that's why Klaus can't make any hybrids, isn't it?" she asked him, laughing.

And as she did, she didn't notice Athena standing behind her "well now I know why I kept falling down on my way here." she shared, as Gloria turned to her, Athena swung her sword, cutting her throat, Gloria began choking on her own blood, as her body fell to the floor, Stefan turned his head and looked at her, breathing heavy "Athena.." he told her, as Athena stepped over Gloria's body, Stefan noticed her wrists were cut open like his "how.." he told her, as Athena ran her hand through his hair "I don't have a lot of time. With her dead it won't be long till they start figuring thing's out, I have to get out of here. But after I felt everything she was doing to you, I new I couldn't leave without at least making sure you were okay." she shared.

Stefan reached his arms up to her face, his vision started to get blurry, as he started panicking "no, no, no..no!" he groaned, breathing heavy "Athena..Athena..Athena, come back! Don't..don't leave me, Athena, please! Come back! Come back!" he voiced, and when his vision began to focus again, he saw Katherine standing there "no, no, no!" he voiced, as Katherine furrowed her brows "Athena?" she asked him, as Stefan sat up "where..where'd she go?" he asked "who? I'm the only one here?" Katherine asked him, as Stefan turned to her and grabbed her by the neck "Athena!" he yelled.

As Katherine's eyes went wide, remembering how last time she talked about her, he did the same thing to her "I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't see anybody." Katherine told him, and she wasn't wrong, when Stefan started passing out again, Athena booked it out of there before she could be found out, letting go of her, Stefan groaned, getting off the table.

Having booked it out of there, Athena had made it to a train station and as she did, she bought herself the next ticket out of Chicago and all the way back home to mystic falls, where as she got onto it, she was so exhausted as she fell into the first seat she saw, as the train began to move, closing her eyes, not thinking about anything else but sleep.

By the time the sun came up the next morning, Athena got off the train and as she did, she walked out, and all the way from the train station and back into town, as she stood there, looking up at the clock tower, although something about this town didn't feel the same anymore and that might just be because Stefan wasn't in it "Athena?" Caroline asked, seeing her standing there, her eyes went wide "Athena!" she yelled, dropping her bag, she ran over to her and as she did, her body slammed into her's, and when it did, she started crying "oh my god. Oh my god. Your alive. Your really alive!" she voiced, starting to cry and as she did, Athena wrapped her arms around her, letting out a breath she was holding in.
