(Y/n) ran through the now-empty hallways, her feet hitting the ground being the only sound that met her ears. Luckily for her, she now knew where the Culinary room was. The girl ran to the Culinary room, her footsteps echoing in the empty hallway. As she reached the door, she pushed it open and peered inside, finding the room eerily quiet and empty. An unsettling feeling washed over her, as if she were being watched. She sighed, stepping further inside, her eyes scanning the dimly lit room.
She looked around the room, sagging her shoulders. She missed it. Or, that's what she thought until she heard a sniffle. Turning her head towards the sound, she found Keiji, the boy sitting alone curled up in the corner of the room, his breathing unsteady and tears falling silently from his eyes. The sight tugged at her heart. When he saw her, he quickly wiped the tears away and forced a smile. "Heyyy, I thought you weren't gonna show!" he said, his voice shaky.
(Y/n) frowned, concern etched on her face. "Are you okay?"
"Yes indeedy!" he replied with a forced cheerfulness. "Everyone already left though..."
(Y/n) walked up to him, her eyes softening with empathy. "Were you crying?" she asked gently.
Keiji let out a nervous laugh, shaking his head. "Pffft, nooo," he said, lying terribly. Despite his shaky voice, his eyes were still puffy and his breathing was a tad unsteady.
(Y/n) knelt down beside him, her gaze unwavering. Under her caring scrutiny, Keiji's facade crumbled, and a few more tears escaped his eyes. Without hesitation, she pulled him into a hug, holding him close.
"What's wrong?" she whispered, her voice soothing.
Keiji sniffled, the words spilling out as he finally let go. "I'm stressed... that's all."
(Y/n), not buying the excuse, cupped his cheeks in her hands. "Keiji..."
He shut his eyes, swallowing hard before answering. "My parents... they're pressuring me to go into a profession that'll actually be useful in the business world instead of culinary arts," he confessed, his voice cracking with emotion. The tears he had tried so hard to hide now streamed down his cheeks, betraying the turmoil he felt inside.
(Y/n) slowly rocked them both back and forth, her embrace steady and comforting. She could feel the tension in his body, the weight of his worries pressing down on him. "I know your parents just want the best for you," she whispered, her fingers gently brushing through his orange hair in a soothing motion. "But sometimes they forget that your happiness matters the most."
She could sense him relaxing slightly in her arms, his breathing becoming more even. She continued to hold him close, her words flowing like a balm to his wounded spirit. "Your passion for culinary arts is a beautiful gift. It's what makes you who you are. And it's okay to follow your own path, even if it's different from what they envision for you."
Keiji clung to her, his grip tightening as he absorbed her comforting presence. The weight of his worries began to lift, piece by piece, as he listened to her soothing voice. The steady rhythm of her rocking and the warmth of her embrace offered him a sense of peace he hadn't felt in a long time. Her words, filled with understanding and acceptance, pierced through the fog of doubt and fear that clouded his mind.
At that moment, surrounded by the quiet stillness of the empty Culinary room, he felt a glimmer of hope for his future. The harsh fluorescent lights above cast a soft glow around them, making the room feel almost cocoon-like, a safe haven away from the pressures of the outside world. (Y/n)'s presence was like a beacon, guiding him through the storm of his emotions.
Keiji's voice was barely above a whisper as he finally spoke, his vulnerability laid bare. "I just want to do something I love. I don't want to disappoint them, but I can't imagine my life without cooking."
