Taro walked further down the narrow path, his heart racing more than he'd like to admit. He glanced over his shoulder, expecting to see (Y/n) trailing behind him, but she wasn't there. The scarecrow had led him down this path; now, he was alone. He frowned, his hand instinctively reaching out to brush the tall corn stalks as he walked.

"Hey," he called out, his voice carrying through the maze. "You guys change this maze every year, huh?"

There was no reply, just the quiet rustling of the corn. Taro chuckled nervously, trying to keep himself calm. "Alright, you got me. I'm lost. Mind helping me out?"

Still, there was nothing. Taro's nerves began to build, his breath coming out in small puffs of white in the cool night air. He swore he saw a shadow move just ahead, the familiar outline of the scarecrow slipping between the stalks.

"Hey! Seriously, I'm lost. Can you-" He stopped mid-sentence when a quiet giggle echoed through the maze.

Taro's heart dropped into his stomach. That wasn't just a playful scare from an actor. It was eerie and unsettling like someone playing a game he wasn't part of. He swallowed hard, his breath hitching as he glanced around, trying to locate the source of the sound.

Another shadow moved in the corner of his vision. He turned quickly, his pulse quickening as he spotted the scarecrow again, closer this time. The burlap sack twisted slightly as if the figure was tilting its head, observing him. Taro felt a chill run down his spine, the cold air biting his skin.

"Alright, man. You win. Can we call it a night now?" Taro tried to laugh it off, but the unease in his voice was unmistakable. He took a step back, his eyes darting from side to side. "I could really use some directions here."

The scarecrow remained silent, and then, without warning, it disappeared again into the corn. Another giggle, this one closer, followed by a faint rustling sound. The darkness of the maze seemed to press in on him from all sides, and Taro's hands balled into fists at his sides.

"Okay, this isn't funny anymore!" he shouted, turning in circles as the sound of rustling corn grew louder, surrounding him. He called out again, his voice trembling. "Come on, help me out!"

But instead of help, there was only that giggle again, closer, almost right behind him.

Taro's breath quickened as he spun around, but there was no one there. The maze was playing tricks on him, and the once thrilling adventure was now a growing nightmare. The scarecrow was no longer just part of the fun. It felt... deliberate.

Taro's heart pounded as he spun around, disoriented by the sounds that seemed to close in on him. The giggles and rustling felt wrong, but he couldn't place why. His breath came out in quick, shallow bursts as he wiped a bead of sweat from his brow, though the night air was cold. He had no idea where (Y/n) was, and the longer he stood there, the more uneasy he felt.

Suddenly, a strange smell reached his nose. It was subtle at first, something almost sweet in the air, but it carried a sharp edge that made his skin prickle. He turned his head toward the source, and that's when he saw it- a flicker of orange light at the far edge of the maze.

Taro froze.

No way. They wouldn't actually set part of the maze on fire, would they?

But the flicker grew brighter, and in an instant, flames began to lick at the stalks of corn, spreading unnaturally fast. His stomach lurched. This wasn't part of the act. He knew that much. The fire wasn't controlled. It was spreading, fast and wild, the dry corn catching like kindling.

"Shit!" Taro cursed, his voice cracking as he backed away from the flames. His mind raced. What the hell was going on? Was this some sick prank? His eyes darted around, looking for the nearest path out, but the thick gray smoke started to roll in, choking the air.
