"Hey," she called out softly, falling into step beside him.

Asahi glanced at her, his expression impassive. "Couldn't handle Keiji's whining, huh?" he remarked dryly.

(Y/n) chuckled softly. "Something like that. I just needed a break."

They descended the stairs together, the soft thud of their footsteps echoing in the expansive house. As they reached the bottom, (Y/n) couldn't help but admire the grandiose architecture once more- the marble floors, the intricate moldings, the tasteful art adorning the walls.

Once down the stairs and facing the main entryway, the two teens turned right through an elegant archway and into the kitchen.

The kitchen was a marvel of modern design, a blend of sleek sophistication and cutting-edge technology. The floors were a polished, dark hardwood, contrasting beautifully with the glossy white cabinets that lined the walls. The countertops were a pristine white marble, veined with hints of gray, giving the space a touch of natural elegance.

A massive island dominated the center of the room, topped with the same marble as the counters. It was equipped with a built-in sink and a high-tech induction cooktop, with seamless, touch-sensitive controls. The island had seating for six, with stylish barstools upholstered in soft, gray leather.

The appliances were the latest in culinary technology. A double-door Sub-Zero refrigerator stood tall, its stainless steel exterior gleaming under the recessed LED lighting that illuminated the entire room. Next to it, a matching wine fridge displayed rows of perfectly chilled bottles, but instead of it holding alcoholic beverages, it held an assortment of sodas and juices. There were two built-in ovens, one of which was a combination steam and convection oven.

Opposite the ovens was a high-end espresso machine, integrated into the cabinetry, capable of making everything from a simple espresso to a complex latte macchiato. A sleek, touch-screen interface allowed for precise control over every aspect of the coffee-making process

(Y/n) watched as Asahi strolled through the kitchen and opened the pantry, giving her an insight into what it held within.

The pantry was a walk-in space, accessed through a sliding, frosted glass door. Inside, it was meticulously organized, with shelves stocked with a variety of gourmet ingredients and snacks, all carefully labeled and arranged.

The lighting in the kitchen was both functional and stylish. Pendant lights with brushed nickel finishes hung over the island, casting a warm, inviting glow. Under-cabinet lighting provided ample illumination for meal preparation, and the recessed ceiling lights could be dimmed to set the perfect ambiance.

Asahi motioned for her to get whatever she wanted from the kitchen, and with a nod, she opened the sleek, stainless steel refrigerator and grabbed a bottle of water. Asahi peeked at her drink of choice and chuckled but didn't comment. (Y/n) leaned against the marble counter, feeling the weight of the day pressing down on her.

"You guys fight a lot... is that normal?" she asked, breaking the silence.

Asahi nodded, munching on a Pop-Tart he had found in the pantry. "Yeah," he replied nonchalantly.

The room then fell silent again, his teal eyes locking onto her with an intensity that made her shift uncomfortably. She took another swig of water, hoping to ease the tension. When she glanced back down, Asahi was suddenly right across from her on the other side of the counter. His expression was unreadable, a mix of curiosity and something else she couldn't quite place.

"Also, you know the mic I left at yours? You can keep it if you want. Consider it charity. You need it."

(Y/n) blinked, eyebrows lifting in disbelief. The word lingered in the air like a bad taste.
