The final bell before lunch rang, and (Y/n) walked through the bustling hallways with Aiko by her side, their conversation lively as they navigated the throngs of students making their way to the cafeteria. The scent of food wafted through the air, mingling with the excited chatter of hungry students. As they approached the cafeteria doors, Keiji spotted (Y/n) and dashed towards her, his face lit up with a childish grin.
"(Y/n), I did it!" he exclaimed, his voice brimming with excitement.
(Y/n) blinked, confused. "Um, what did you do?"
Keiji laughed, his enthusiasm infectious, and took her by the wrist, pulling her away from the cafeteria and down the hallway. Aiko's voice called after her, a hint of concern in her tone, but she made no move to follow, merely watching with an annoyed expression.
As they moved further away from the cafeteria, the bustling noise of students dimmed, replaced by the quieter hum of empty hallways. Keiji slowed his pace once they were a good distance away, loosening his grip on her wrist. "Sorry about that," he apologized, his excitement barely contained. "I just can't wait for you to try it."
(Y/n) rolled her eyes playfully, curiosity piqued. "Try what?"
With a dramatic flourish, Keiji gestured towards the culinary room. The tantalizing aroma of (f/f) filled the air, making her mouth water. She stepped inside, glancing around the familiar room. The four cooking stations on the left stood in neat rows, and on the furthest one was a perfectly plated (f/f).
Keiji followed her closely, his eyes bright with anticipation as she approached the dish. She looked up at him, curiosity and hunger mixing in her gaze. His playful demeanor shifted to something more serious as he gently took her hands in his.
"I really appreciate you being there for me yesterday," he said, his voice sincere. "I wanted to make it up to you somehow."
(Y/n) gave him a sympathetic look, her heart warming at his thoughtfulness. "You didn't have to do all this, Keiji."
He shook his head, a determined expression on his face. He then dropped her hands and picked up the plate, holding it out to her. "Please, try it."
She took the plate, inhaling the delicious aroma deeply. "It smells really good," she said, her stomach growling in agreement. She took a bite, closing her eyes as the flavors danced on her tongue. "This is amazing!"
Keiji's face lit up with a proud smile. She then held out a forkful towards him. "Here, you have to try it too."
His eyes widened slightly, a pink blush dusting his cheeks. Hesitantly, he nodded and took a bite, his expression shifting to one of pure delight. "Isn't it good?" she asked, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
"Of course, it's good," he replied with an exaggerated boast. "I made it."
She laughed at his playful arrogance, continuing to eat until the plate was clean. "Thank you, Keiji. This is way better than the cafeteria food."
He beamed, clearly pleased. "I wouldn't mind doing this every day for you. Plus, it'd be free."
She shook her head, chuckling. "I can't let you do that. I don't want to exploit you."
Keiji frowned at her stubbornness. He sighed, relenting. "Fine. Though, the offer still stands anytime."
(Y/n) got up and moved to the sink, intending to wash the dish, but Keiji quickly intervened. "No, no, you don't have to do anything. I'll wash it."
She furrowed her brows, ready to protest, but his earnest expression made her stop. "Okay, if you insist."
Just then, the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch. Keiji and (Y/n) exchanged goodbyes, his hazel eyes watching as she left the culinary room to continue on about her day.
