(Y/n) rose from her seat at the dining room table and gestured toward the gray haired boy next to her. "Mom, this is Asahi," she said.

Asahi nodded from where he sat. "Nice to meet you, ma'am."

Her mother gave a pointed look at (Y/n), her eyebrows raised in surprise. "I didn't know you'd have a boy over alone," she remarked, her tone laced with curiosity and a hint of concern.

(Y/n) returned the look, feeling a mix of embarrassment and frustration. "He's just helping me with a school project."

(M/n) still looked skeptical as she walked past them, placing her keys and purse on the kitchen island. The air was thick with unspoken questions. Asahi, sensing the tension, stood up from his seat.

"I was just about to leave," the teal eyed boy remarked, shoving his hands in his pockets. (Y/n) handed him back his AirPod, shooting him an apologetic look in the process.

The girl then nodded, grateful for his understanding. "Thanks again for helping me with the assignment. It feels nice to have it done."

His gaze lingered on hers for a moment longer than necessary. "It was no problem. Though, I don't know where Kai went."

(Y/n) hesitated before asking, "What's your relationship with Kai, anyway?"

Asahi rolled his eyes, a small smirk playing on his lips. "We're friends for 'business' reasons or whatever."

"Really?" (Y/n) replied, curiosity piqued.

"Yeah," Asahi said with a shrug. "Our parents work together."

Nodding in understanding, (Y/n) excused herself to go find Kai, leaving Asahi and her mother in the dining room. As she walked down the hallway, she could hear her mom trying to strike up a conversation with Asahi, her voice a mix of genuine interest and motherly concern.

Turning into her room, (Y/n) found Kai sitting by the window, staring at the view. Their eyes met in the reflection of the glass as she leaned against the door frame.

"Asahi is ready to-," she started, but Kai interrupted her.

"You have a really nice view from your window," he said, his voice thoughtful.

Caught off guard, (Y/n) blinked. "Oh, thanks."

Kai continued, "I bet it's especially beautiful in the winter when the frost touches the glass."

(Y/n) didn't really know how to respond, so she simply nodded. "It's pretty in every season."

Kai smiled, his golden eyes softening. "I knew you'd say something like that."

Silence stretched between them.

"Asahi is ready to go home," she said softly.

Kai sighed, reluctantly getting up from his seat. As he walked toward her, (Y/n) had to look up to meet his golden eyes. He looked at her with an emotion she couldn't quite read. "Thanks for letting me come over," he said, his voice sincere.

She nodded, watching as he walked past her. She followed him down the hallway, her mind still processing their earlier conversation. As they neared the dining room, they heard voices and walked in on Asahi and her mom talking. Asahi was leaning against one of the counters, his usual nonchalant demeanor in place, while her mom gave him her full attention.

Her mom's voice was enthusiastic. "I absolutely love the design and the interior."

Asahi smiled smugly. "I'm very glad you like it."

(Y/n) looked between them, puzzled. "What are you talking about?"

(M/n) turned to her daughter, her eyes bright with excitement. "Asahi's family owns TransLux."
