As soon as Riku shifted the car into reverse, his movements were precise and calculated. He turned the wheel effortlessly, positioning the vehicle so that the three men now stood directly in front of them. (Y/n), still trying to regain her breath, barely noticed the subtle change in his demeanor- a faint, almost imperceptible smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Her heart was still racing from the chase, her body struggling to catch up with the events unfolding around her.

Then the car lurched forward, the sudden roar of the engine filling the air. (Y/n)'s eyes widened in shock as she grabbed the edge of her seat. Wait, is he...?

Her thought was cut off as the forms of the three men grew larger, the car closing the distance faster than she could process. Riku didn't slow down. The men shouted, panic flashing across their faces, and at the very last second, they dove out of the way. But the sound - that sound - (Y/n) couldn't ignore. A sickening crunch echoed through the car, followed by the jarring sensation of the wheels rolling over something.

She gasped, her eyes immediately shooting to the rearview mirror. One of the men was writhing on the ground, clutching his leg in obvious pain. Her heart skipped a beat as the realization sank in. Did... did we just run over his leg?

Her breath caught in her throat, and her hands trembled as she clutched the seatbelt, fumbling to buckle herself in. Her mind swirled with questions, panic, and confusion, but when she turned to Riku, his face was as stoic as ever. The fleeting smile was long gone, replaced by the familiar impassive mask he always wore.

The car sped down the road, making several sharp turns as if Riku knew exactly where he was going. (Y/n)'s pulse pounded in her ears, the image of the man on the ground replaying over and over in her mind. She didn't feel guilty for what had happened, not entirely. They had been chasing her, after all. But the thought of what could happen next, what they might do to Riku, and what kind of trouble this could cause began to gnaw at her. Could they sue him? Would they come back for revenge? Would they try and get her again?

As if sensing her tension, Riku's eyes flicked toward her. He glanced her way, his gaze calm but searching, as though he was checking for injuries. But (Y/n) stayed rigid in the seat, her fingers clenched around the strap of the seatbelt. Her mind raced, her heart still hammering in her chest, but she couldn't bring herself to speak.

Riku made another turn, pulling into a side street where a random car was parked at the curb. (Y/n) recognized it immediately; it belonged to the men who had chased her. Riku's eyes narrowed slightly as he scanned the car, his focus lingering on the license plate. He didn't say a word, didn't offer any explanation for what he was doing. He just memorized the plate before shifting gears again and driving away, leaving the car behind.

(Y/n)'s heart thudded in her chest as she watched the street slip past. Her street. He had driven right past it without even slowing down. A flicker of unease twisted in her gut. Where is he taking me?

"Thank you for, um... saving me," (Y/n) finally managed to say, her voice hesitant, almost shaky. The words felt strange on her tongue, like she wasn't sure if she should be thanking him or asking him a hundred other questions that burned in her mind. The man clutching his leg, the bizarre chase, the fact that Riku had shown up at just the right moment. None of it made sense.

But Riku remained silent, his hands steady on the wheel as he made another turn, leading them further away from her home. The tension between them thickened, but (Y/n) didn't dare press him, knowing she wouldn't get answers out of him even if she tried. She swallowed, her gaze flickering between Riku and the unfamiliar streets outside the window.

The drive was oddly quiet. Riku didn't play any music, leaving the only sounds to the hum of the engine and the light tapping of his fingers on the steering wheel. After the intensity of what had just happened, the silence felt surreal. Despite his earlier reckless stunt, Riku was now driving as if he had all the time in the world. He cruised along at five miles below the speed limit, made full, deliberate stops at every stop sign, and left an almost comical amount of space between his car and the ones ahead of him.
