Detention felt like an eternity for (Y/n). Yesterday's session had been bearable thanks to her friends, but today, she found herself sitting in a near-empty classroom, surrounded by random students she didn't recognize. The air felt thick with boredom and frustration, the occasional shuffling of papers or the scraping of a chair being the only sounds that broke the stillness.

The teacher at the front desk was different from the one who had supervised the day before. This one reminded (Y/n) of Mr. Oshima, sharing the same cold, unyielding gaze. His face was set in a permanent scowl, his bushy brows furrowed as if he were constantly displeased with something. Unlike most teachers who might sneak a glance at their phone or thumb through a newspaper during detention, this man was alert. His eyes never left the students, and if anyone dared glance in another's direction, he would snap at them, barking out a warning and threatening to add an extra 30 minutes to their detention time.

(Y/n) wasn't even sure if he was authorized to do that, but in truth, she didn't care. Detention was proving to be unexpectedly useful. The forced isolation and silence gave her a chance to catch up on her assignments. Between her forced absence on Monday and zoning out in class today, she had fallen behind, but now she nearly had all her notes and assignments completed. It was a small victory in the otherwise tedious ordeal.

The minutes dragged on, the clock ticking painfully slowly, but eventually, the old-fashioned timer the teacher had set let out a shrill ring. With a heavy sigh, the teacher groaned and cleared his throat, announcing, "You're free to go."

(Y/n) didn't waste a second. She quickly packed up her things, shoving her notebooks into her backpack, eager to escape the dreary atmosphere. She was the first one out the door, her pace brisk as she headed into the hallway, anticipation bubbling up at the thought of finally seeing Reina.

To her surprise, standing just outside the classroom was Emi. The blonde leaned casually against the wall, filing a freshly manicured nail. The sharp scent of her perfume hit (Y/n)'s senses immediately, a heady mix of jasmine and something citrusy. Emi's blue eyes snapped up to meet hers as soon as the door clicked shut behind her.

(Y/n) blinked in confusion as she processed the unexpected turn of events. Sure, she vaguely remembered Emi mentioning after school that she'd drive her home, but she hadn't expected the blonde to actually wait around until her detention was over. As she followed Emi out to the car, the crisp autumn air hit her skin, making her grateful for the jacket she'd decided to throw on this morning.

Emi slid into the driver's seat with her usual ease, starting the engine and glancing at (Y/n) with a mischievous glint in her blue eyes. "Special orders say that you, my friend, are going to 'Kane's Farm,'" Emi declared, her tone teasing.

Kane's Farm? (Y/n) tilted her head, perplexed. The place was a mix of a petting zoo, corn maze, and pumpkin patch- perfect for families and groups of kids on field trips, but not exactly the place she thought she'd be heading after detention. "Why?" she asked, her voice tentative as she buckled her seatbelt.

Emi flashed a sly smirk, a look that suggested she knew more than she was letting on. "It's a secret," she replied cryptically before pulling out of the parking lot and onto the main road.

"Ah..." was all (Y/n) could manage in response, resigning herself to the mystery. Her mind wandered to what Yuuto had said earlier. I guess this is what he meant by the boys wanting to surprise Reina and I.

The drive to Kane's Farm was a long twenty minutes, though it felt shorter to Emi, who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the open road. The wind whipped through her hair as she cruised down the highway with the windows slightly rolled down, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the steering wheel in time with the Y2K music blaring from the speakers. Every so often, she'd flash (Y/n) a grin, clearly in her element.
