A few hours had passed, and the heavy rain had diminished to a gentle drizzle, the sound barely audible against the roof. Inside the house, the warmth from the heater created a cozy contrast to the chilly dampness outside. (Y/n) was in the laundry room, carefully taking Riku's clothes out of the dryer. The rhythmic hum of the machine had become a comforting background noise.
As she turned around, she nearly dropped the freshly dried clothes, flinching at the sight of Riku standing silently behind her. "You scared me!" she exclaimed, clutching the clothes to her chest. Riku's face remained expressionless, his chocolate eyes unwavering as they met hers. There was an intensity in his gaze that she couldn't quite decipher.
With a small, nervous laugh, she held out the neatly folded clothes to him. "Your clothes are all dry now, so you can change back," she said, trying to ease her tension.
Riku's eyes flickered down to the clothes, his expression shifting slightly to a frown. He didn't move to take them, just stood there, blinking slowly. (Y/n) felt a pang of frustration mixed with sympathy. Communication with him was always a puzzle, one she was determined to solve.
"Are you going to take them?" she asked gently, her voice softer now. Again, he didn't respond, only blinking at the clothes in her hands. The silence stretched, filled only by the faint sound of the drizzle outside and the hum of the dryer.
Sighing, she placed the clothes on top of the dryer and stepped back to give him space. "You can grab them whenever you're ready," she said, offering him a small smile in an attempt to reassure him.
The teens walked out of the laundry room, the warmth of the house a comforting contrast to the chilly drizzle outside. (Y/n) glanced through the window, watching the raindrops dance on the glass. "The rain's finally easing up," she commented, her voice carrying a note of relief.
Turning to Riku, she asked, "Do you have a way of getting home?" Her question hung in the air as he simply stared at her, his silence a familiar response.
She sighed, a mixture of frustration and determination washing over her. An idea formed in her mind, and she pulled out her phone. "Just a second," she said, dialing a certain someone's number.
The phone rang twice before it got picked up. "Hey, (Y/n)," Reina's voice came through, bright and slightly hurried.
"Hey," (Y/n) greeted, glancing at Riku. "So, Riku's at my house, and he doesn't have a ride home. I didn't know who else to call."
Reina's response was quick. "I'm kind of busy right now, but you could ask Keiji to go over."
(Y/n) furrowed her brows, puzzled. "Keiji? Why him?"
"He's at home right now and shouldn't be busy," Reina explained, her tone suggesting it was the most obvious solution.
"Okay..." (Y/n) replied, a touch of uncertainty in her voice.
"Great. Bye!" Reina rushed off the phone, leaving (Y/n) holding it to her ear, the call already ended. That was... fast.
(Y/n) suddenly realized with a jolt that she didn't have Keiji's contact information. She face-palmed, feeling a wave of frustration wash over her.
Riku, noticing her sudden change in demeanor, tilted his head slightly, his eyes filled with curiosity. Forcing a smile, (Y/n) looked up at him. "You wouldn't happen to have Keiji's number, would you?" she asked, trying to keep her tone light.
Without a word, Riku calmly pulled out his phone and handed it to her. Blinking in surprise, (Y/n) gently took the phone from his hands. She noticed that it didn't have a passcode, which struck her as both odd and endearing. Navigating to his contacts, she scrolled through the list, recognizing familiar names: Yuuto, Asahi, Souta, Kai, Keiji, and Reina, along with a few surnames she didn't recognize.
