The hallway was dim, lit by the faint glow from recessed lights. The noise was undoubtedly louder now. She squinted as her eyes adjusted, then took a right, heading toward the grand staircase. The house was eerily empty, and the faint creaks of the floorboards mixed in with whatever sound she was hearing did not make her any more comfortable. She descended the staircase slowly, each step a soft echo in the expansive space.
Once on the lower level, (Y/n) glanced around, hearing the noise stemming from what sounded like the living room. She turned left, passing under an archway that led into the living room. The room was spacious and dimly lit, the large windows overlooking the dark landscape outside. A few scattered lamps illuminated the cozy furniture, and (Y/n) found herself feeling a little more at ease in the room's warmth.
(Y/n) stepped further into the living room, her eyes falling on Asahi. He was sprawled out lazily on the couch, eyes glued to the TV as the sound blasted at a volume that would have woken anyone else in the house- anyone except Reina, who was an impossibly deep sleeper. Amused, (Y/n) let out a soft chuckle, folding her arms as she leaned against the back of the couch.
"Ferris Bueller's Day Off? Good pick," she commented with a hint of teasing in her tone.
Asahi visibly jumped at her voice, clearly not having noticed her approach. His head whipped around, his teal eyes flashing with a brief startle before softening as he recognized her. His eyes roved over her figure in Reina's clothes. They lingered on her legs, traveling up to the short, satin shorts, taking their time until they reached the perfectly framed shirt clung on only by two straps. His eyes lingered on her form before he finally met her eyes, swallowing as he took in her facial features.
"You've seen it?" he asked, clearing his throat and settling back into his relaxed posture.
(Y/n) nodded, choosing to ignore his wandering eyes, and leaned slightly over the back of the couch to glance at the screen. "It's a classic," she replied with a small grin.
A smirk tugged at the corners of Asahi's lips as he lazily patted the empty spot next to him. "Come sit. Finish the movie with me."
(Y/n) hesitated, glancing to the side as if debating. "I mean... the movie's almost over by the looks of it," she reasoned, her eyes flicking to the screen where Ferris was racing to beat the clock home.
Asahi leaned back further into the cushions, his smirk deepening as he swatted her argument away. "Then we can do something after." His tone carried a casual confidence as if he had already expected her to join him.
(Y/n) sighed softly, pretending to mull over her options before giving in with a nod. "Fine," she said, walking around the couch to sit beside him. "But I get to choose what we do next."
Asahi rolled his eyes dramatically, a teasing grin on his face. "Whatever," he muttered, though his tone was playful as she settled beside him on the couch.
As she sat, Asahi shifted subtly, his body leaning just a little closer to hers. It was an imperceptible move, but it didn't go unnoticed by (Y/n). She felt the warmth of his presence next to her, though she chose not to comment on it, eyes fixed on the screen as Ferris danced his way through a parade.
The room filled with the upbeat sounds of the movie, but Asahi's focus seemed split. Every now and then, his arm would brush hers lightly, a fleeting touch that felt too frequent to be coincidental. He stretched one arm casually along the back of the couch, the tips of his fingers barely grazing her shoulder.
(Y/n) glanced at him from the corner of her eye, catching the slight smirk playing on his lips. He wasn't making any overt moves, just enough to test the waters. She pretended not to notice, keeping her attention on the screen, though the subtle tension between them was hard to ignore. I really don't want to make things awkward...
