The sound of her name pulled (Y/n) from her thoughts, and she turned to see Kai standing in the doorway, his expression a mix of shock and concern. The noirette had a dyed towel draped around his shoulders, his hair wet and soaking on the towel. Without his usual eyeliner, Kai looked slightly different- softer, almost. His wet hair was meticulously slicked back, giving him a surprisingly polished appearance despite the casual setting.

"Kai," (Y/n) said, her voice tinged with relief and surprise. His sudden appearance added another layer to the already chaotic situation.

Kai's dark eyes flicked over to Asahi's teal ones, and the two shared a brief, knowing look before Kai turned his attention back to (Y/n). A broad smile spread across his face as he tried to lean against the archway casually, though his surprise was still evident. "What are you doing here?" he asked, his tone attempting to be nonchalant.

(Y/n) sighed in exasperation, feeling the weight of the past hour's events pressing down on her. "Reina was having a reaction," she explained, her voice weary. "So, here I am."

Kai's smile faded, replaced by a frown of concern. "Is she okay?"

Asahi, who had been watching the exchange with an amused expression, spoke up. "She'll be fine. How did you not hear the commotion?" His tone was teasing, though there was an edge of curiosity in his voice.

Kai looked around sheepishly, avoiding Asahi's gaze. "I was in the shower," he admitted, his voice softer. He seemed almost embarrassed, his casual demeanor slipping.

Asahi rolled his eyes, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Obviously."

Kai shot Asahi a sharp glare, the kind that could start a fire if one wasn't careful. (Y/n) noticed the brewing tension and decided to intervene, hoping to steer the conversation into calmer waters.

"You know," she said brightly, looking around the opulent living room, "this house is absolutely beautiful. I've never seen anything like it."

She took a moment to really look at Kai, noting the small droplets of water still clinging to his skin, and the way his dark hair gleamed under the light. Kai's glare softened instantly, replaced by a warm smile as he turned his attention back to her. "You should thank our parents for that," he said, his voice tinged with pride.

(Y/n)'s curiosity was piqued. "What do your parents do for a living?" she asked, genuinely interested.

Kai's eyes lit up as he answered. "My father is an author, and my mother is a conservationist."

(Y/n) smiled softly, intrigued. "Would I know any books your father has written?"

Kai's face brightened even more, a spark of excitement in his eyes. "Oh, definitely! I have a few of his books in my room. Would you like to see them?"

(Y/n) nodded eagerly, standing up from the plush couch. "I'd love to," she said, her enthusiasm genuine.

Asahi, on the other hand, wasn't thrilled about this idea. He scoffed, shifting to make himself more comfortable on the couch, his body language radiating disapproval. "Great," he muttered under his breath, barely loud enough for them to hear. "A tour of Kai's shrine to his dad's books. Just what we need."

(Y/n) glanced at him, catching the muttered comment but choosing to ignore it. She didn't want to cause any more friction. Kai, too, seemed to brush off Asahi's remark, his focus solely on (Y/n) as he led her back out through the archway and toward the grand staircase.

The two ascended the grand staircase, each step cushioned by the plush carpeting beneath their feet. At the top, they made a sharp left turn, entering a long, spacious hallway. The hall was lined with rich wooden flooring, gleaming under the warm lighting from the elegant sconces affixed to the walls at regular intervals. Large windows punctuated the length of the hallway, each framed with heavy drapes in a deep, velvety blue, allowing just enough natural light to filter through and blend seamlessly with the artificial glow.
