But just as Keiji took another forkful of meat, something unexpected caught both of their attention. A sharp, metallic click echoed through the room. (Y/n)'s head snapped toward the sound, and Keiji's smile faltered for a brief moment. They both turned toward where Yuuto was seated, his body stiff, his hands fumbling with something in his lap.
Then came the unmistakable sound of a gunshot.
The crack of the gunshot still echoed in her ears, its sharp ring reverberating like a shockwave. In slow, horrified realization, (Y/n) turned her gaze to Keiji, her heart stuttering as she saw him lying crumpled on the floor beside her. Blood was seeping from a small, brutal wound in the center of his forehead, his lifeless eyes staring blankly into the distance. The bullet had pierced his skull, and she could see the sickening contrast of crimson against the pale skin of his face. A chill slithered down her spine, and her breaths grew ragged as she tried to comprehend the horror unfolding around her.
Her gaze drifted upward, drawn by the dark presence of Yuuto. He stood there, gun in hand, his fingers casually adjusting his grip on the weapon as if this was nothing more than routine. The cold glint in his eyes was far removed from the boy she'd once known, and his expression held a terrifying blend of irritation and impatience. "Let's get this over with," he muttered, his tone laced with disdain. His eyes flicked dismissively over her as he turned and left the dining room, his footsteps echoing heavily on the stairs.
(Y/n)'s heart hammered painfully against her ribs, the room closing in around her as the stench of blood mixed with the once-inviting aroma of the meal now strewn across the table. Corpses lay motionless around her, each one a silent, accusing witness to the nightmare that had unfolded. Souta's lifeless hand was draped over the edge of his chair, while Asahi's skull just kept dripping. And now Keiji lay at her feet, his once-cunning smile wiped away, leaving only a hollow, empty expression.
The bile rose thickly in her throat, her stomach twisting in a violent protest she could no longer control. She tried to keep it down, but the overpowering sight and smell broke past her defenses, and her body heaved. The contents of her stomach spilled onto the table, splattering across the ruined feast, tainting the food further with her own revulsion. Her throat burned, raw and acidic, as another wave overcame her, leaving her shuddering as the bitter taste clung to her mouth. She pressed a hand to her lips, trying to hold back, but her body rejected her control, and she heaved again, a second wave joining the mess on the table. Her stomach twisted relentlessly, each heave a painful reminder of the terror coursing through her.
Suddenly, the pounding of Yuuto's footsteps returned, snapping her out of her daze. She barely had time to look up before he was upon her, his expression dark and unyielding. He grabbed her roughly, one hand closing around her neck to tilt her head back with a force that left her no room to struggle. Her fingers clawed weakly at his arm, her strength utterly failing her. With a detached calm, he produced a syringe, the needle glinting menacingly as he brought it to her neck. Before she could fully grasp what was happening, he plunged the needle into her vein, pushing the plunger with practiced precision.
"There we go," he murmured, his voice cold and steady. She felt the liquid course into her bloodstream, a chilling sensation that made her limbs go slack. Her vision began to blur at the edges, her consciousness slipping away despite her desperate attempts to stay awake. She fought against the thick, drugged haze pulling her under, but her body refused to listen. Her head lolled as her eyes began to close, the last thing she saw was the faint outline of Yuuto's cruel smile hovering above her.
