A few minutes had passed since the teacher had left the room, the ticking clock on the wall marking the passage of time with an almost oppressive rhythm. (Y/n) tried to focus on the schoolwork in front of her, the silence of the room growing heavier with each second. The faint scratching of pencils and the occasional shuffling of papers were the only sounds breaking the stillness.
Her mind wandered, but she quickly snapped back to attention when the door creaked open. She looked up, her eyes immediately catching the discontentment on the teacher's face as he reentered the room. His posture was stiff, his brows furrowed in irritation as he made his way back to his desk. The room grew even quieter, the atmosphere tense as everyone waited to see what he would do.
Leaning over to the blond teen sitting near his desk, the teacher exchanged a few hushed words with Yuuto. The two spoke in such low tones that (Y/n) couldn't catch what they were saying, but she noticed the serious look on Yuuto's face as he nodded in response. After a few moments, the teacher straightened up and cleared his throat, the sound loud and commanding in the otherwise silent room.
"Attention, everyone," he announced, his voice carrying a note of finality. "I have to leave early today. Yuuto will be in charge while I'm gone. I trust that all of you will behave yourselves, and I will know if there are any problems," the teacher finished as his stern gaze swept across the room, lingering on each of them as if to ensure his message was understood. With a curt nod, he turned on his heel and walked out of the room, the door clicking shut behind him.
The second the door closed, a heavy silence hung in the air, like the calm before a storm. Asahi was the first to break it. He stood up from his desk with a groan, stretching his arms above his head as if to shake off the monotony of the day. A smirk played on his lips as he surveyed the room, his gray eyes glinting with mischief.
"Now this just got interesting," he drawled, his voice full of amusement.
(Y/n) kept her eyes focused on her work, determined to ignore him. From the corner of her eye, she saw Riku send a glare in Asahi's direction, his expression hardening with silent disapproval, but he remained otherwise quiet.
Unfazed by the silent reprimand, Asahi strutted across the room, his footsteps deliberate and slow as he approached (Y/n)'s desk. She could feel his presence looming closer, but she kept her head down, her pen moving steadily across the paper as if she hadn't noticed him at all.
The boy bent down, leaning closer to (Y/n) and whispering in her ear, "Detention's over. Let's get out of here."
Before (Y/n) could respond, Souta, who had been sketching in his notebook, glanced up with a bored expression. "We still have 45 minutes left," he corrected, his voice flat as he pointed out the reality of their situation.
Asahi, unfazed, turned to face him with a casual shrug. "And? Yuuto's not gonna do shit, so it's basically over," he replied nonchalantly, waving off the remaining time as if it were irrelevant.
Keiji, always eager to stir the pot, perked up at the mention of free time. He nearly jumped out of his seat, his eyes lighting up with excitement as he focused on Yuuto. "If we've got 45 minutes to kill, we should all go to the culinary room!" he suggested enthusiastically, his mind already racing with ideas of what they could do there.
Kai, who had been sitting in tense silence, scoffed at the suggestion. "If we're going anywhere, it should be the rooftop," he interjected, his tone dismissive as if the idea of spending their time anywhere else was absurd.
Asahi rolled his eyes, clearly unimpressed with either option. "We should obviously just go home," he said, his voice carrying a tone of finality. To him, there was no point in sticking around any longer.
