TW: MENTIONS OF S*ICIDE

The car slammed into the lake with a sickening jolt, cold water immediately engulfing the tires, but with all the momentum Kai had picked up before, they kept propelling forward. (Y/n)'s breath caught in her throat, panic shooting through her like electricity. The car was sinking, and they were trapped inside.

Without thinking, (Y/n) undid her seatbelt and lunged over, reaching across Kai to unlock the car doors from his side. Her fingers were inches from the button when Kai's arm shot out, blocking her with a swift, violent shove of his leg. The force knocked her back into her seat.

"Stop!" he yelled, the car jerking to a halt as he eased off the pedal. But it was too late- the weight of the car was dragging them under, the front end sinking faster as it tipped into the deep, cold water.

(Y/n)'s heart pounded in her chest, frantic thoughts swirling in her head. She fumbled to roll down the window, but the cursed safety locks stopped it from lowering more than a crack. Panic clawed at her throat as she looked around, desperately searching for another way out.

Water started to seep through the tiny cracks of the windshield. The engine made an eerie, gurgling sound, sputtering its last breaths as the water rose higher around the car. Her eyes widened in terror as icy cold water touched her feet.

Before she could react, she felt hands on her face, Kai's rough palms cupping her cheeks, forcing her to look at him. His expression was manic, crazed, and twisted in a way she had never seen before. His golden eyes gleamed with a wild fervor, like a man possessed by a single, terrifying idea.

"Don't be scared..." Kai murmured, his voice low and intense. His fingers dug into her skin as he held her face, forcing her to meet his gaze. "Don't be scared. This is the start of our forever. I can't lose you if we're lost together."

He leaned closer, his breath warm against her skin despite the cold water creeping up their legs. He tried to press their foreheads together, the gesture intimate and suffocating, but (Y/n) recoiled, her survival instincts kicking in.

"No," she whispered, her voice shaking, her mind racing with desperation.

And then, she did the only thing she could think of. She turned her head and sank her teeth into his hand, hard.

Kai flinched, his brows furrowing in surprise as she bit down, her teeth breaking through skin and muscle. He tried to pull back, but she clenched her jaw harder, her breath coming in ragged gasps as she tasted the metallic tang of his blood on her tongue.

He hissed in pain, jerking his hand away, the flesh tearing as it escaped her grip. Blood dripped freely into the rising water, a bright red contrast to the cold, murky liquid filling the car. But to her horror, Kai didn't even react to the injury. He looked down at his hand - where a chunk of skin was missing - and not a flicker of pain crossed his face.

The car was sinking fast, and the water was already up to (Y/n)'s shins, cold and unforgiving. The once steady hum of the engine had sputtered into silence, and now all she could hear was the steady sloshing of water rising against the car's frame. Outside, the world was dark, the water murky, making everything feel claustrophobic as if they were being swallowed whole by the lake.

Inside, the water was halfway up the door windows, the pressure increasing with every second. The interior of the car seemed to grow darker too, the light dimming as the water cut off the moon's glow. She could feel the chill creeping up her body, causing goosebumps to erupt across her skin- not just from the cold, but from the suffocating terror that was gripping her heart.
