Without waiting for him to respond, she grabbed his wrist, her fingers trembling as she pulled him out of the deep freeze. She could feel her breath quicken, the weight of what she'd seen pressing down on her like a vice. "Riku, we need to find Souta. Now. Keiji- he-" Her voice broke as her thoughts raced faster than her words. She was about to say more when she noticed that Riku wasn't looking at her. Instead, his gaze was fixed on something else; the key, still lodged in the keyhole of the deep freeze.

His eyes then methodically scanned the basement: the puddle of water beneath the malfunctioning heater, the leaking pipe, and finally, back to her. Reina's heart pounded as she cast a glance over her shoulder, terrified that at any moment, Keiji would descend the stairs and catch them.

"We need to be extremely careful," she whispered, voice barely holding steady. She tightened her grip on Riku's arm, trying to urge him forward. But instead of moving, he let out a slow, deliberate breath, closing his eyes as if he was centering himself. Then, in a gesture that confused her, he calmly reached out and locked the deep freeze door, sealing it shut once more.

"Riku, what are you doing?" she stammered, her voice a mix of fear and disbelief. But her urgency overshadowed her confusion, and she tried to pull him along again, desperate to escape the basement and whatever horrors Keiji had hidden down here. Riku, however, remained rooted in place. He shook off her grip with an unsettling calm, brushing her away with a silent but firm refusal.

"Riku?" she repeated, her voice trembling. She could feel herself shaking, her mind screaming for them to leave while they still had the chance.

Riku didn't respond. His furrowed brows were the only hint of emotion on his otherwise neutral face. He stepped forward carefully, avoiding the water pooling on the floor as he approached the heater. The quiet splash of his shoes sent ripples across the surface, and Reina hesitated, watching him with wide, fearful eyes.

She took a tentative step after him, the cold water shocking her feet, but stopped when Riku held up his hand, silently telling her to wait. She froze, standing in the puddle, her feet cold and damp, too terrified to take another step. Behind her, the dreadful presence of the body seemed to loom, unseen but undeniable.

Riku continued moving, his actions deliberate and calculated. Reina couldn't understand why he wasn't in a panic like she was. Why wasn't he trying to leave? Why wasn't he running? And most importantly- what was he thinking? She swallowed hard, unable to take her eyes off him as he approached the heater, the quiet hum of the basement amplifying her thundering heart.

Reina stood frozen, her breath shallow and her body tense, watching as Riku moved with unsettling precision. She wanted to believe he was trying to figure out a way out of this situation, that he was going to help her, but something was wrong. The way his eyes fixated on the breaker on the far wall, the eerie calm in his movements- it all set her nerves on edge.

"Riku?" she asked hesitantly, her voice wavering as she watched him stride toward the breaker. The sound of the water heater leaking seemed to grow louder, filling the silence that hung between them, the constant drip of water like a ticking clock, counting down to something terrible.

Riku didn't answer her, didn't even turn to acknowledge her presence. Instead, he reached for the breaker with an unsettling calm, his hands moving deliberately as he gripped the metal cover. Reina's heart skipped a beat. A horrible feeling began to settle deep in her gut, a gnawing dread that something was about to go very, very wrong.

"Riku... what are you doing?" she asked again, her voice softer now, tinged with a creeping fear. With a swift motion, he ripped the cover off the breaker, the sharp sound of metal screeching against metal reverberating through the dimly lit basement.
