After dropping (Y/n) off at her house, the car was quiet for about two minutes before the inevitable happened. Reina shifted in her seat, reaching for the window controls and rolling it down just a crack, letting in a soft breeze.
"Stop rolling the window up," Reina complained, her fingers tapping impatiently against the door as she tried to hold the window down.
Souta shot her a sideways glance before promptly rolling the window back up. "No. We're using the AC, and besides, it's too cold outside," he countered, his voice flat as he kept his eyes on the road.
"Just turn the AC off, then! I want to feel the breeze." Reina made a move to roll the window down again, but Souta, quicker than her, locked the controls on his side, leaving the window stubbornly sealed shut.
"Why? Your hair is wet anyway," he pointed out, exasperation creeping into his tone as he tried to make sense of her logic.
To anyone else, the twins seemed like the perfect duo- never a bicker or argument in public. But when they were alone, it was like all the bickering they saved up during the day spilled out in torrents. There was no holding back when it was just the two of them.
"I don't care! It feels nice, like drinking water while chewing mint gum," Reina argued, leaning across the center console to reach for the lock on his side, determined to override his decision. Souta quickly blocked her access with his arm, swatting her hand away without even looking at her.
"Stop it! I'm driving. You can drive yourself next time if you want the window down," he grumbled, rolling his eyes as he kept both hands on the wheel.
Reina huffed, folding her arms across her chest, her eyes wandering upwards. After a brief pause, her gaze landed on the sunroof. A mischievous glint flashed in her eyes, and without a word, she opened the cover, moving her hand toward the button to open it.
Souta's reaction was immediate. He reached over and grabbed her wrist, his voice rising an octave. "Stop! It's near 50 degrees outside, Reina!" he scolded, trying to keep control of both his sister and the car.
"It's 58! That's barely anything!" Reina snapped back, yanking her wrist out of his grip as she tried again to press the button.
"I don't care!" Souta growled.
"Well, I do!" Reina shot back, her determination unwavering as the two continued to bicker, their voices rising and falling in sync with the rhythm of their argument.
The back-and-forth carried on for the rest of the drive, neither twin willing to give up the fight. Finally, Souta let out a long, dramatic sigh and pulled into the drive-thru of Reina's favorite fast food place. It was his way of conceding defeat without actually admitting to it.
"Happy now?" he grumbled, shooting her a glare as they idled in the drive-thru lane.
Reina didn't answer, her mood immediately brightened as she placed her order. A few minutes later, Reina was contentedly munching on a burger in the passenger seat, occasionally feeding Souta a fry whenever he held out his hand, a small peace offering of sorts.
"You're insufferable," Souta muttered through a mouthful of fries, but the grumble lacked any real heat. At least she wasn't trying to roll the window down anymore, and for now, that was a win.
