Asahi's gaze locked onto (Y/n), his teal eyes narrowing with suspicion. The weariness in his face was evident, as if he hadn't had a full night's sleep in weeks. Dark circles shadowed his sharp eyes, and his jaw was tight with something that wasn't quite anger but maybe something darker, something colder. His posture was tense, but his focus was entirely on her, flicking momentarily to her dress pocket before returning to her eyes. His scrutiny was intense, as if he could see right through her, reading every minute detail of her being.

The air between them felt thick, almost suffocating as (Y/n) stood frozen in place, doing her best to appear small and vulnerable. She was terrified, and it wasn't just because of what Asahi could do- he had already killed her mother. No, it was the knowledge that he saw through her act, that he knew something was off. His gaze cut deeper than any knife, and he was waiting for her to slip.

Before she could even process what she was doing, Yuuto was suddenly at her side, moving so quickly that she barely had time to react. He used his left hand to lift her chin, the pressure of his fingers firm but not painful. She flinched at the unexpected touch, instinctively trying to pull back, but his grip was steady, his eyes locked onto hers.

He studied her, his gaze sliding over her, inspecting her wounds, the bandages on her arms, the cuts on her face, the bruises barely visible under her skin. "You seem fine," he mumbled under his breath, sounding almost disappointed by her resilience. His eyes softened slightly as he took a step back, looking her over more thoroughly. "Is Keiji with you?"

Shaking her head, she forced her gaze upward, the corner of her vision catching Asahi's. The man who'd killed her mother. The monster in disguise. The one who had caused all of this. The one who had to die.

Yuuto's voice broke through her thoughts again, cold and casual. "Where's Souta?" he asked, his gaze flickering from her face to the quiet house around them, as if expecting Souta to appear from one of the rooms.

(Y/n) didn't hesitate as she looked toward the staircase, her voice almost a whisper, her throat tight with the effort. "He said he was going to make me a new dress... said he needed full concentration." She let her words trail off, careful to keep her tone as natural as possible, even as she felt her body betray her.

Yuuto followed her gaze, his sharp eyes narrowing as he processed the information. He didn't trust her. She could feel it, he wasn't convinced by her story.

"You came back on your own?" he asked, his voice laced with suspicion.

(Y/n) nodded slowly, her hands fidgeting at her sides, her shoulders sagging in a small, defeated manner. She wanted to seem small, unimportant, easy to ignore. She didn't want to appear dangerous. She couldn't afford to look like a threat.

Her heart pounded against her ribs, but she kept her face blank. She'd lived through worse. She'd survived. She could handle this. But inside, the nerves crawled under her skin like insects biting and gnawing at her insides. She'd made her choice. This was the path she had to walk, and she couldn't turn back now.

Yuuto's eyes were on her the entire time, studying her movements as if he could peel the layers of her carefully constructed act apart with nothing more than a glance. She could see the doubt in his eyes, but there was something else there, too, something unfamiliar. Concern? No, that wasn't it. It was more like a passing thought, a fleeting calculation.

Before she could even react, his hands were on her, pulling her into his chest. The familiar weight of his arms around her, the heat of his body pressing against hers- it felt suffocating. She stayed still, stiff, refusing to lean into the embrace, but he didn't let her go. Instead, his hold tightened, drawing her closer until she could hear the steady thump of his heartbeat against her ear. The rhythmic pulse, slow and regular, irritated her to her core.
