**(Long Chapter ahead)**
Kol stood at the threshold of the Gilbert house, eyes gleaming with a mixture of impatience and menace.
"If you want a truce, then open the door and invite me in," he said, his voice deceptively smooth, but there was a dangerous edge to it.
Elena hesitated, her hand hovering over the doorknob.
Jeremy glanced at her nervously before shifting his gaze back to Kol, who was growing more agitated by the second.
“Please, hurry up," Kol continued with an exaggerated sigh. "The sooner we do this, the sooner I can leave. I have a beautiful date tonight, and I really do hate to keep her waiting."
With a reluctant nod, Jeremy stepped forward, unlocking the door. "Come in," he muttered.
Elena stood with a false calmness, her face betraying none of the anxiety twisting within her.
She told Kol she no longer wanted the cure, pretending to sacrifice her own desires in exchange for Jeremy’s safety.
Kol’s eyes lingered on her, still assessing, but after a brief pause, he seemed to accept her words.
Elena's pulse raced, knowing they had only moments to execute the rest of the plan.
She needed to buy time, to keep him here long enough for Jeremy to return with Bonnie.
But Kol’s mind drifted to the evening ahead, already late for his plans, and with a faint, almost dismissive smile, he left the house.
Meanwhile, Jeremy had reached Bonnie’s house, his steps quick with urgency.
He needed her magic to complete the trap they’d set for Kol, hoping against hope that this would be enough to stop him once and for all.
As Kol walked away from the Gilbert house, something tugged at his senses.
A familiar sound—Jeremy’s voice, followed by Elena’s—drifted faintly in the air. His steps slowed.
The voices were too close, too casual.
Suspicion quickly gave way to realization, the truth crashing down with a chilling clarity: it had all been a ruse. He had been deceived.
A dark, vengeful smirk spread across Kol’s face, and with renewed determination, he turned back.
Inside, Elena and Jeremy hurried toward the door, expecting Bonnie.
Their relief was short-lived. When they opened it, their faces immediately paled.
Kol stood before them, no longer the charming figure he had pretended to be. His smirk was cold, his eyes sharp and filled with wrath.
They moved to slam the door shut, but it was too late. Kol was already inside.
The wood splintered as he ripped the door from its hinges with effortless violence.
As the fight quickly escalated despite Kol's supernatural strength, Elena and Jeremy fought back with everything they had.
Desperation fueled them, and after a fierce struggle, they managed to weaken him, the Original vampire visibly faltering.
Jeremy seized the opportunity, snatching up the fallen oak stake and plunging it into Kol’s heart with all the strength he could muster.
Kol froze, his body jerking violently as flames erupted from within him, consuming him in a fiery blaze.
His scream echoed through the room as he staggered back, the fire spreading across his skin.
