Suddenly, a gunshot shattered the tense silence. Joshua let out a guttural scream as a bullet ripped through his shoulder, the searing pain nearly dropping him to his knees.
His hand instinctively shot up to the wound, blood seeping between his fingers. He spun around, eyes wide with disbelief and agony, to find Alaric standing there, a smoking gun clenched in his hand.
Beside him stood Jo, her face pale but resolute, her body tense as though bracing for the storm that was about to break.
"Stop," Jo said, her voice calm and controlled despite the chaos around them. "It's over."
Joshua coughed, spitting blood onto the floor. His gaze, wild with fury and betrayal, locked onto his daughters.
"My own blood," he snarled, his voice thick with rage. "My own daughters... conspiring against me. You've brought shame to this family. You've disgraced everything we stand for."
Jo's eyes hardened, her jaw set like stone. "No, Joshua," she replied, refusing to call him 'Father.' "You did that yourself." Her voice, cold and final, left no room for argument.
Before Joshua could react, Kai, watching for the moment to strike, seized the opportunity.
His hands moved swiftly through the air, casting a spell that manifested as chains of glowing magical light. They wrapped themselves tightly around Joshua, binding him where he stood.
Joshua roared in fury, his body thrashing against the glowing chains, but they only tightened with every movement.
"You think you can bind me?!" His eyes, wild with hatred, turned toward Kai, burning with a murderous intensity. "You will pay for this. I'll make sure you suffer for what you've done!"
Kai's face remained impassive, his expression unreadable, but his eyes flickered with a quiet, deep-seated rage. "I don't think so," he said, voice low and dangerous.
His hands glowed darkly as he muttered a spell under his breath. In an instant, black tendrils of energy snaked out from his fingers, curling around Joshua and squeezing tighter with each passing second.
Joshua screamed, his body convulsing as the dark magic seeped into him, ravaging his insides. "Stop! STOP!" His voice, once commanding and proud, was now reduced to a pitiful plea, but there was no mercy in Kai's eyes.
Kai leaned forward, his voice laced with venom. "This is for when you attacked my home and nearly killed Estrella four years ago." His hands twisted sharply, and a sickening crack filled the room as Joshua's bones began to break under the pressure.
Joshua's screams tore through the air, but Kai's smile only grew colder. "And this," he continued, "this is for all the innocent people you kidnapped and tortured, for every child you hurt."
The room seemed to close in on Joshua, his once-commanding presence now crumbling under the combined weight of his enemies.
His desperate cries echoed off the walls, but his strength was fading fast.
Gasping for breath, he tried to mutter a spell through his pain. "Invisique," he croaked, hoping for an escape. But nothing happened.
Kai's smirk widened, and he shook his head. "Really, Joshua? You think we wouldn't seal this room with stronger magic than yours? Nothing you do can save you now."
Kai's voice dropped to a whisper, filled with icy malice. "And this... this is for betraying our coven. For working with rogue witches, for endangering us all."
He made a sharp slashing motion with his hand, and Joshua screamed again, his blood pouring from fresh wounds that appeared across his body, staining his clothes and the floor beneath him.
