"Lexi, be a darling, fetch me twelve candles and a knife please?" Estrella's voice was soft but commanding, her attention fixed on the ancient, leather-bound tome before her.
Noah leaned against the table, watching her with an uneasy expression. "How exactly do you plan on doing this, Es?" he asked as Lexi hurried out of the room to gather the items.
Estrella's eyes flickered up from the book, her gaze sharp but serene. "It's a rather twisted spell," she began, her tone deliberate, as if she had rehearsed the explanation.
"But I believe I can pull it off. The process involves me traveling into the body of a Gemini witch, essentially possessing them. Once I make that connection, I'll bring them back." She spoke with a calculated calmness, though her words were anything but ordinary.
"Wait, possession?" Noah's voice rose in surprise, echoing the shock that rippled through the room. "How is that even possible?"
"It's not exactly possession," Estrella clarified, tapping her finger lightly on the book as if deep in thought. "It's more like becoming a passenger, like how the Travelers used to do it. In this case, I'll make the Gemini witch my host body."
Tyler, standing near the window with his arms crossed, scoffed. "You're not a Traveler. There's no way that'll work."
Matt chimed in from the corner, shaking his head. "And even if you were, you'd still need a spell and the Traveler's knife. You can't just become a passenger without those things."
Estrella's lips curled into a sly smile, her gaze flicking toward Matt. "Ah, but you see, I'm not an ordinary witch, am I?" Her tone was teasing, almost playful.
"I don't need the specific knife—the ordinary one will do the work. However, you're correct about the spell. That, I do need." Her smile widened as her eyes slid over to Olivia, who had been standing quietly by the door, now tense and wary under Estrella's gaze. "But even that can be arranged."
Lexi returned with the candles and a knife. With a flick of her hand, Estrella directed her to place the candles in a perfect circle.
The unlit candles surrounded her like silent sentinels, waiting for her command.
Estrella moved toward Olivia, an air of menace in her deliberate steps.
Olivia took an instinctive step back, her eyes darting to Tyler for reassurance.
With a subtle flick of her fingers, Estrella's magic surged forward, a crimson light glowing faintly in her eyes.
It pulsed through Olivia, making her freeze in place.
"Jaryakat en zem Daryeet acza," Estrella whispered, her voice smooth as silk as she lightly placed her fingers on Olivia's temple. "λέγω Incendia," (légo: say)
Under her control, Olivia repeated the incantation, her voice mechanical and distant, as if she had no choice but to obey.
Once the spell was spoken, Estrella snapped her fingers, releasing Olivia from the trance.
The candles around them sparked to life, their flames dancing with an eerie precision.
They all stared at her, an evident mix of fear and awe in their eyes.
The air in the room felt heavier, charged with the reality that Estrella's magic, so potent and unpredictable, could even compel a witch.
Olivia gasped, staggering backward into Tyler's protective arms. His eyes were blazing with anger as he glared at Estrella.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Tyler spat, his voice shaking with fury.
Estrella chuckled softly, the sound low and mocking. "Oh, so dramatic. I thought you'd have figured this out by now."
