Three years had passed in a blur for Estrella.
The days felt long but fleeting, with every moment dedicated to protecting her four-year-old twins.
She had relentlessly practiced the advanced magic Victoria had taught her, magic designed to shield her children from the dangerous forces that lingered just beyond the horizon.
Most pressing was her ongoing attempt to unlink them from Joshua's grip, the leader of the Gemini Coven, who, even after all these years, still hunted for them.
Estrella's circle of trust had shrunk to just one person: Lexi.
Lexi, having seamlessly integrated into their small, close-knit family, was a constant and cherished presence.
She had grown close to Noah and Oliver, and their camaraderie was evident in the way they interacted.
Lexi's updates on Mystic Falls kept her informed, while Estrella maintained the facade of normalcy, carefully concealing her true whereabouts from Stefan and others.
But Estrella had been plagued by dreams.
For days now, she'd woken from the same nightmare-Enzo lying on the ground, dying, and then Stefan, collapsing in his own blood.
The dreams were vivid, disturbing, and always ended with her seeing the same old book, one she knew she had encountered before.
She could feel the weight of something looming, something dark and inevitable, but she didn't know how to stop it. Not yet.
Meanwhile, in Oregon, the Gemini Coven had been shaken.
What had once been a powerful, tightly-knit community had now grown brittle, divided under the obsessive leadership of Joshua Parker.
For four years, he had relentlessly searched for Estrella.
The power she held terrified him, the energy he had sensed during their last encounter gnawing at him like a festering wound.
He was convinced that she was plotting to destroy him, certain that she had discovered some weapon to bring him down.
"She's hiding, planning something to overthrow me," Joshua hissed to Liv, the only family member who still spoke to him.
Jo had long since cut ties with her father, and Alaric was equally distant, unwilling to let Joshua infect their lives with his paranoia.
But Olivia remained, torn between loyalty and disbelief.
"Do it for your dad, Liv," Joshua pressed, desperation creeping into his voice.
His eyes were wide, wild. "Promise me you won't stop looking for her. I need you to find her. We need to be prepared."
Liv hesitated, her heart heavy with doubt, but eventually, she nodded, too worn down to refuse him outright.
Yet, trouble was brewing. Nearby covens in Oregon were growing alarmed by a series of brutal and mysterious murders.
When the victims included children and the elderly, the urgency to act escalated.
Some whispered that Joshua was involved, that in his quest to find Estrella, he had hired rogue witches, promising them a place in the Gemini Coven.
It was ironic, of course-those same rogue witches were now suspects in the killings, and many within the coven openly disapproved of Joshua's actions.
But he remained blind to their concerns, consumed by his fear of Estrella.
Even Josie and Lizzie weren't safe from Joshua's desperation.
He had attempted to insert himself into their lives, claiming that he could protect them from a looming threat.
