A/N: Things are about to get intense. Contains torture and mentions of blood.

In the cozy atmosphere of a café in Whitmore, Estrella and Kai sat together, the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee surrounding them.

The sunlight filters through the windows, casting a warm glow on their table.

He had just informed her that he needed to leave for Portland again for a week, coven duties pulling him away.

The news settled between them, a quiet tension hanging in the air.

Estrella felt a pang of sadness, but she kept it hidden behind a soft smile, determined not to let her emotions show.

Instead, she focused on the time they had left, the precious hours they could spend together before his departure.

But their peaceful day took a turn when they ran into Liv, Kai's sister.

Liv's eyes flicked over them, her expression cold and distant.

She turned away without a word. "Liv, wait," Kai called after her, his tone softer than usual.

But Liv's shoulders stiffened as she turned back to them.

"Don’t cause a scene, Kai," she warned, her voice laced with anger and hurt.

Kai’s hand dropped to his side, and Estrella watched as his shoulders slumped slightly, a shadow of disappointment passing over his face.

Later, when Liv brought them their coffee and lunch, she did so with an angry glare, practically slamming the cups down before storming off without another word.

Estrella sighed, the weight of the tension settling heavily between them.

She reached across the table, placing her hand over Kai’s.

His skin was cool under her touch, and she squeezed gently, offering silent support.

“Give it time,” she murmured, her eyes soft with understanding. “They’ll understand one day.”

Kai’s eyes met hers, a mix of frustration and gratitude flickering in them.

He nodded, though the sadness lingered.

The journey home was quiet, both of them lost in their thoughts.

As they entered the house, Kai broke the silence with a playful comment, trying to lighten the mood. "Chocolate mint is a disgrace as a flavor. Who wants to eat ice cream that tastes like toothpaste?"

Estrella couldn’t help but laugh, shaking off the day’s heaviness. "Exactly. Bubblegum flavor is just as bad. Damon once forced me to try it, and then laughed when I almost threw up."

Kai chuckled, taking a sip of her coffee and earning a playful swat from Estrella.

"Get your own," she teased.

He grinned and headed to the bedroom to change, while she made her way to the kitchen.

She set their lunch on plates, the familiar routine bringing her a sense of calm.

“Kai, do you want extra cheese on top of your sandwich? I’m going to put some in mine,” Estrella called out, sipping her coffee.

But as she drank, she noticed something different in the taste.

Kai's scream echoed through the apartment as he bolted towards the kitchen.

"Don't drink the coffee!" he shouted, his voice cracking with urgency, one hand clutching his chest.
