Joshua was livid when the news reached him.
The Salem witch he had painstakingly sought after was dead, under mysterious circumstances.
She had been the last of her kind, the final key to his plan.
He had intended to find her, persuade her to join him in a grand alliance, but now his efforts had failed miserably.
His fists clenched, a storm of frustration brewing within him.
The nearby coven, in alliance with the Gemini Coven, had successfully lured the cops away, diverting attention from the case.
They made it appear as though she had been a widow, living and dying in isolation.
The truth remained buried, hidden beneath layers of secrecy.
Now, the mansion where she had once lived stood eerily still and empty, a ghostly remnant of what could have been.
The silence was suffocating, a haunting reminder of the opportunity Joshua had lost.

Estrella pulled her car into the parking lot, shutting off the engine as she arrived at her office.
The morning sun filtered through the glass doors as she walked inside, greeted by the familiar face of her friend, Juliette, who worked as the receptionist.
"Hey, J," Estrella greeted, a smile tugging at her lips. "How's your morning? How's Ava?"
"Hey, Es! I'm good, and Ava's doing great too. Listen, someone's waiting for you in the lobby. She said she knows you-and Es, she's hot," Juliette said with a teasing grin.
Estrella's heart skipped a beat. "Did she give her name?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Juliette frowned, shaking her head. "She did, but for some reason, I can't remember it. She's blonde, about my height, great figure, and a killer smile. Is something wrong?"
Estrella forced a smile, though unease crept into her chest. "No, it's fine," she replied, though her mind raced.
Rebekah or Cami would have called if they were visiting, especially with the situation in New Orleans.
Who could it be?Quickly, she sent a text to Oliver, just in case, before making her way cautiously toward the waiting room.
Her magic hummed beneath her skin, ready to be unleashed if necessary.
To her shock, when she opened the door, it wasn't a stranger waiting for her.
Sitting casually in one of the chairs, with a playful smile on her lips, was Lexi.
"I heard her," Lexi said, her voice filled with warmth. "Tell Juliette I'm flattered. Hello, Ella."
"Lexi?" Estrella's voice trembled, her mind struggling to comprehend what she was seeing. "How did you... how did you find me?"
Lexi stood up, her eyes soft but serious. "It wasn't easy, but I did leave a witch's corpse to rot, one who helped me along the way. Besides, I promised Stefan I'd find you, and I keep my promises."
"What? My magic..it worked," Estrella whispered, her heart racing as a mixture of relief and dread swirled inside her.
She had tried so hard to stay hidden, to keep herself far from the dangers that always seemed to find her.
Yet now, here Lexi was, standing before her, proof that the layers of protection she had woven around herself hadn't been enough.
"And Stefan... he's been looking for me?" she whispered, barely able to contain the emotion rising within her.
