For the past six months, Kai tried relentlessly to change her mind, showing up unannounced and using every opportunity to remind her of what they once had.
But Estrella remained unmoved. Her resolve was strong, perhaps stronger than even she had anticipated.
However, Kai wasn't one to give up easily, so he began to enlist others-Noah, Oliver, and even the twins-to help him bridge the gap that had grown between them.
Noah and Oliver, seeing Estrella's façade of indifference, eventually agreed to Kai's plan-not for his sake, but for Estrella's.
They knew her too well to believe that she had truly moved on. Her stubborn determination was a mask, and beneath it, they could see the pain that lingered, the hurt she refused to acknowledge.
One evening, as Kai sat in Noah's cafe, Noah couldn't resist bringing up what was on everyone's minds.
"Okay so I might get killed for this, but don't freak out-it's about Estrella," Noah began, glancing nervously at Kai, who immediately straightened in his chair, his expression tightening with concern.
"What about her? Is she okay?" Kai asked, his voice laced with urgency.
"No, she's not okay," Noah replied, his usual sarcasm creeping into his tone. "If stubbornness and being ridiculously prideful were symptoms, she has a serious diagnosis."
"Noah, that's enough," Oliver said, casting a warning glance at him before turning back to Kai.
Kai's eyes darkened with worry, his fingers drumming anxiously on the table. "What's going on?" he asked, the question more of a demand than a request.
Oliver hesitated for a moment before finally answering. "She's going to dinner tonight," he started, watching for Kai's reaction.
Kai raised an eyebrow, unsure where this was going. "Dinner?" he repeated.
"With a colleague," Oliver continued cautiously.
"Who happens to be a guy," Noah chimed in bluntly, ignoring Oliver's glare. "It's a date. Her first official one since... well, since you."
Kai's face paled as he processed the information, his heart sinking into his stomach. Estrella, dating? The thought hadn't fully crossed his mind until now, and the idea of someone else in her life made his chest tighten. He had known she was pushing him away, but this-this felt real.
"Where and when?" Kai asked, his voice eerily calm, though his mind was racing. He had to see it for himself.
Noah and Oliver exchanged worried glances before Noah sighed, shaking his head. "Kai, I don't know if-"
"Just tell me," Kai interrupted, his gaze sharp, leaving no room for argument.
Oliver hesitated for a moment before finally providing the details. "Just... please, don't do anything rash that might upset her further," he warned, his tone serious but concerned.
"And if we find out you've hurt her, this deal is off," Noah added, his usual lightheartedness absent for once. "We may be annoyed with her sometimes, but that doesn't mean we don't care. So, be careful." He gave a small, encouraging smile. "Good luck."
Kai nodded, though his mind was already racing with the plan he was forming. As he arrived at the restaurant, he spotted Estrella entering.
For a moment, a soft smile crept onto his face, but it quickly faded when he saw Ben's arm casually slide around her waist, guiding her to their table.
A wave of jealousy surged through him, but he pushed it down, choosing a seat a few tables away, where he could observe without being noticed.
He watched her closely, noticing how she smiled and laughed politely. She looked beautiful-more than beautiful, in fact. She looked radiant in a way that twisted something deep inside of him.
