In the present day, Stefan's world once again teetered on the edge of chaos. The fragile peace he'd tried to preserve was crumbling, brick by brick. He had barely begun to recover from the wounds of the past when Damon struck again—this time by turning Vicki Donovan into a vampire. It was a reckless act, and Stefan knew it would unravel everything.

He searched frantically for her, driven by urgency and dread. But fate was already in motion. As he moved through the streets of Mystic Falls, he encountered trouble—Founder's Council member Logan Fell, who suspected too much. Without hesitation, Fell raised his weapon and shot Stefan.

Wounded and weakening fast, Stefan collapsed—but in a surprising twist, Damon arrived just in time to save him. However, the danger wasn't over. Vicki attacked Fell savagely, now fully transformed and ruled by her thirst. Her eyes were wild, blood streaking her lips.

Later, Stefan sat with Elena, his voice low but firm. "Vicki's a vampire now," he admitted, urgency in his tone. "We have to keep this a secret—if the town finds out, she's dead for sure."

Despite Stefan's efforts to guide her, Vicki spiraled out of control. Her hunger made her dangerous, unpredictable. He tried to teach her restraint, but her instincts were stronger than her will. Her transformation was a slow-motion tragedy.

Meanwhile, at school, Caroline found a beautiful amber necklace and offered it to Bonnie.

"It'll go perfectly with your Halloween costume," she said cheerfully, unaware of the powerful legacy the trinket carried.

That night, chaos descended on the town. Vicki, overcome by bloodlust and confusion, crashed the Halloween party and attacked Jeremy—and then Elena.

Stefan had no choice. He intervened to save them, but the only solution left was final. He staked Vicki through the heart, watching as the life drained from her all over again. The cost of peace had never felt heavier.

When the night ended, Damon compelled Jeremy and Matt to forget—erasing the trauma from their minds. "Start fresh," he murmured, brushing away the shattered memories like dust from a page.

In the days that followed, a glimmer of hope emerged with the arrival of Lexi, Stefan's old friend and one of the few vampires he trusted. She came to Mystic Falls to celebrate his birthday, which also happened to mark the birthday of his long-deceased twin.

Lexi's presence was a balm. She brought laughter, old memories, and a gentle reminder of who Stefan once was. With her support, he felt something he hadn't in a long time—relief. He even began to consider opening his heart again, to Elena.

But Damon, ever the saboteur, had other plans.

In an effort to shift suspicion away from himself and Stefan, Damon framed Lexi for the recent string of murders. It was a calculated move, one that turned the town—and the Founders' Council—against her.

The Sheriff and officers arrived and began escorting Lexi toward a police car. But the moment they touched her, she erupted, hurling them aside effortlessly.

"Stay back!" the Sheriff shouted, raising her weapon. A flurry of wooden bullets followed, each finding its mark in Lexi's body.

Bloodied and staggering, Lexi turned, ready to defend herself—but Damon appeared from the shadows, swift and cold. Without a word, he drove a stake through her.

Stefan, watching from a distance, instinctively pulled Elena behind him.

"Oh my god..." Stefan gasped, eyes wide, breath stolen by shock.

Lexi's face contorted in disbelief. Gasping, she looked up at Damon. "Why?" she whispered.

Damon leaned in, close enough that only she could hear him. "It's part of the plan," he murmured coldly.
