Chapter 2

FLASHBACK

Year 1846

In a grand mansion nestled in Mystic Falls, a pair of twins were born to Giuseppe and Lily Salvatore.

Their names were Stefan and Estrella Salvatore.

Their father, Giuseppe, held a deep disdain for Estrella, seeing her as a burden rather than a blessing.

Despite Lily's attempts to show her love, she struggles under Giuseppe's influence.

Damon, Estrella's older brother, and Stefan, however, were fiercely protective of her.

She shared a close bond with her brothers, and they were always there to shield her from their father's wrath.

Whenever their father grew angry, Damon and Stefan stood by Estrella's side, offering her comfort and support.

During grand events like ball held at their mansion, where Estrella was often overlooked and ignored, Damon and Stefan would whisk her away to the rooftop.

There, under the canopy of stars, they found comfort and companionship in each other's presence.

Year 1856

As Stefan and Estrella reached the age of ten, their world was shattered when their mother passed away.

Stefan was overcome with sadness and grief, feeling lost without his mother's comforting presence.

Damon, the eldest brother, stepped in to console them, offering his support during this difficult time.

As the funeral concluded, Stefan struggled to control his tears, while Estrella held his hand tightly, trying to console him.

He was visibly upset because Damon hadn't said a speech for their mother.

"You could have at least said goodbye," Stefan cried, releasing Estrella's hand and running away.

She watched him go, her heart aching for her brother, then turned to Damon, who had a sad smile on his face.

"Everything will be alright," Damon assured her, his voice gentle and reassuring.

Estrella, feeling a pang of empathy for her brother's pain, reached out and embraced him in a hug.

"What's wrong?" he asked, gently rubbing her back.

"I'm comforting you, just like you did for us. You had no one to do that for you," she replied.

To her surprise, Damon let out a soft laugh and returned the gesture.

"Besides, my hugs have powers. They're magical," she whispered to him with a small smile, as if sharing a secret.

"Indeed they are," Damon agreed, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

In the absence of their mother, Damon took on the role of mentor and teacher for Estrella.

He patiently taught her how to read and write, sneaking away with her to explore the world of books when their father wasn't watching.

Despite their close bond, Estrella and Damon's relationship is different from the one she shared with Stefan.

With Stefan, Estrella felt an unspoken connection, a deep understanding that went beyond words.

They were always there for each other, knowing instinctively how to comfort and support one another.

Estrella discovered a passion for painting, her brush capturing the beauty of the world around her with every stroke.
