The next morning, Chase walked into the kitchen, wearing thick gloves, with a bucket.
- "Hey Chase, what're you doing?" Oliver asked.
- "Oh, I just reinforced all the windows with an impenetrable polymer I designed to keep this place safe from any threat." The genius boy explained with a smile.
- "Oh yeah? Well..." The Evers boy took a sandwich out of the pan. "I just made myself a grilled cheese."
Okay. The green hazel-eyed boy and walked further away.
- "Mm, something smells good." Skylar walked in.
- "Yep. That's my sandwich." The blue-eyed boy smiled.
- "No, smells more like reinforced polymer." The Calderan replied.
- "Oh, you!" Oliver pointed at her and water came out of his finger, wetting her.
Oh boy. Chase's eyes widened.
- "Oliver!" The Storm girl yelled.
- "I'm sorry! It was an accident." The Evers boy sighed. "I'm still trying to get the hang of my powers."
- "Oh, you poor thing. It must be so hard for you." Skylar mocked as she put a hand on his shoulder.
- "Skylar, tha... that's not what I meant." The blue-eyed boy said.
- "No, no, no. Thank you once again for reminding me how you have powers and I don't." The Calderan took his sandwich and walked away.
The genius boy looked at her, frowning.
- "Alien chicks, am I right?" Oliver, awkwardly, chuckled.
- "Mads would hit you if she was here." The green hazel-eyed boy said.
- "I have no doubt." The Evers boy replied as he walked up to the desk where he was.
- "You know, I still don't get it. If Skylar was born a superhero, then why didn't she have any powers?" Chase asked.
- "She used to, but a human-turned-mutant called the Annihilator drained them out of her. Put them on a shelf as a trophy." The blue-eyed boy explained.
- "Okay, I'm sorry, but you have to agree. That just sounds ridiculous!" The genius boy exclaimed. "And I lived with Mads, the number of weird things, this girl could do is impressive." He walked to the kitchen, making his friend follow him. "Look, if Skylar's gonna be part of this team, then I have got to find a way to get her powers back."
- "No! I have to be one to get her powers back." Oliver said.
- "Why you?" The green hazel-eyed boy frowned.
- "Because she's my best friend and my favorite superhero. I promised her that I will." The Evers boy sighed and sat down. "I've been trying to get back her powers for years. So far, no luck."
- "Well, that's because you didn't have my vast scientific knowledge to help you, and now you do." Chase smirked. "I'll even give you all the credit so she thinks you're the hero."
- "Thanks, buddy." The blue-eyed boy smiled widely as he got up. "You're the best; you know one day I'll do something for you." He, accidentally, fired his water at his friend's face.
The genius boy closed his eyes. Seriously?!
- "You could start by getting me a towel." He glared at his friend.
