Universe 38

Saturday, 23rd December 2017

A week later, two days after seeing their house in Universe 314 and meeting Spike, the geniuses were in the living room, watching their cats chase each other as they played.

- "I can't wait to see you tomorrow, too." Maddie said on the phone. "I love you. Bye, Leo."

- "Bye, bro." Chase added. "Love you."

- "Bye, guys." Leo replied. "Love you too."

The quadbrid hung up and sighed with a smile.

- "I'm excited to see all of them again." She laid her head on her boyfriend's shoulder.

- "I know, darling." The bionic boy nodded, putting his hand on the back of her head. "Me too."

- "We're gonna see the students too. And Grandma. And Grandpa." The Matthews girl said.

- "Yep." The Davenport boy smiled softly. "The phone isn't enough."

- "Nope." The blue-eyed girl shook her head.

The green hazel-eyed boy wrapped his arms around her, hugging her, as he rested his head on top of hers and closed his eyes.

Just a little more before going to work. Maddie closed her eyes.

Chase smiled, happily.

A couple of hours later, the team was at the D.E.O., waiting for more explanations from the time travelers.

- "It's a long story." Tim started.

- "We're listening." Maddie nodded.

- "Strange as it may sound, the 31st century is actually not that different from today." The Davenport man from the future said.

- "What, better smartphones?" Winn asked.

- "What's a phone?" Irma frowned.

- "'What's a phone'?" The Schott man smiled. "Oh, the future's awesome."

The Matthews girl chuckled softly.

- "Yeah, sounds it." Kara nodded.

- "Well, technology has developed beyond imagining, but, at the end of the day, it's still in service of communicating with each other, and entertaining each other, and also killing each other." The hybrid explained. "In this day, or in a thousand years, conflict is constant, but so is strength."

- "And that's where we come in." The Ardeen woman added.

- "So, what are you, soldiers?" Alex asked.

- "The governments were overwhelmed by violence, by chaos." The Titan replied. "Tim organized us. And we banded together to help Earth's leaders keep the peace, at home and in the stars. We call ourselves 'The Legion'."

I knew it. The quadbrid smirked.

- "And we exist because of you." Imra looked at the youngest.

- "Because of me?" Maddie raised her eyebrows.

- "Mmm." The Ardeen woman nodded.

- "How so?" Mon-El asked.

- "Your stories inspired me. YOU inspired me." Tim explained to his ancestor. "So, when I founded the Legion, I chose to use you as an example of what we could be. Of what we aspire to be."
