In Maddie's mind

Three days later, the Captain and General had gone back to their universe, attending business while Maddie was still in the coma.

Suddenly, she woke up on the couch in her old house.

- "What the..." She frowned and looked around, seeing that everything looked the way it did before Claire died. "How does it look still the same?"

Someone rang the bell.

The Matthews girl frowned and got up, before opening the door to Brainy.

- "It's you." He said, in disbelief and amazement.

- "Can I help you?" The quadbrid frowned.

- "Now, you're talking to me." The Dox man replied. "GreatGirl is talking to me."

- "Oh." Maddie grabbed his arm. "Inside. Now." She pulled him in, before closing the door.

- "I am Brainiac-5." The Coluan put his hands behind his back, a serious expression on his face. "Half-computer, half-organic lifeform, all Coluan, and, not to brag, but a 12th-level intellect, like you. My name is Querl Dox, but the Legionnaires just call me Brainy."

Querl Dox? The Matthews girl looked at him with wide eyes. And another comic book character. This is awesome. And I have a 12th level of intellect?!

- "Legionnaires? Did Tim send you?" She asked.

- "Yes, yes." Brainy nodded. "To make sure that your neural pathways are clear and intact." He picked up a vase with lilacs, Claire's favorite flowers. "Your brain is in truly remarkable health for someone languishing in a coma." He frowned at the flowers.

- "Uh, I'm sorry, did you say 'coma'?" The quadbrid frowned. "What the hell?"

- "Mmm, did I bury the lede? You've been in a coma for two days." The Dox man replied.

- "I'm in my old house." Maddie said.

- "Wow." The Coluan whispered. "Oh. You mean the physical manifestation of the place in which your subconscious feels most comfortable? That house?"

- "If I'm in a coma, how are you here?" The Matthews girl questioned.

- "Tim woke me up from hypersleep to stabilize you and communicate with you on behalf of him and your D.E.O. compatriots. 31st century technology. It's also what's keeping you alive." Brainy explained.

- "Alive?" The quadbrid frowned again.

- "Reign defeated you. Don't you remember?" The Dox man frowned, in concern.

Maddie closed her eyes for a second as flashbacks of what had happened arrived in her mind.

- "No, this is crazy." She shook her head. "Reign is still out there. People are dying, I have to wake up. I need to go back to my family." She ran to the door, trying to open it.

- "I don't think you're listening to me." The Coluan said.

The Matthews girl tried to open the door, but it was stuck.

- "What?" She whispered to herself with a frown.

- "Can we just, maybe, relax a little bit?" Brainy asked.

The quadbrid rolled her eyes. I hate when people tell me to 'relax'.

- "Damn it! It won't open!" She yelled.
