Over a week later, the two older Davenport brothers went back to the academy. Bree and Adam were still not talking to Maddie and Chase.
The bionic boy was missing talking to his siblings, but he could not blame his girlfriend for standing up for him.
- "Babe?" The quadbrid moved her hand in front of his face.
- "Mmm?" The Davenport boy frowned and turned his face to look at her. "Sorry. What did you say?"
- "I said: 'Good morning, my love'." The Matthews girl repeated as she put a hand on his cheek.
The green hazel-eyed boy smiled softly.
- "Good morning, darling." He replied.
- "You were thinking about them again, weren't you?" The blue-eyed girl asked.
- "Yeah." Chase sighed as he looked at the ceiling.
Maddie put herself on top of him, laying in between his legs.
- "They have no reason to be mad at YOU." She said as he wrapped his arms around her waist. "You didn't do anything, and you tried to stop me. They only have a reason to be mad at me." She put her forearms on his chest and rested her chin on them as she looked up at him.
- "But you only did it to defend me." The bionic boy looked down at her.
- "I know, but I hurt their egos." The quadbrid replied.
The Davenport boy sighed, thoughtful.
- "Do you want me to apologize?" The Matthews girl asked. "If you need me to, I will."
- "No." The green hazel-eyed boy shook his head. "They know you meant every word, and that you would only apologize for me without actually meaning a word."
- "But..." The blue-eyed girl tried.
- "No." Chase said, firmly. "It's not your fault. It's up to them now, if they want to answer me or not."
Maddie, gently, pressed her lips against his.
- "I'm sorry." She whispered.
- "I know." The bionic boy nodded as he tightened his grip around her back.
It's my fault if they don't talk to him anymore. The quadbrid snuggled her head into his neck. That they don't talk to me? I get it. But him? He didn't do anything, except take it for years. She sighed.
- "What about you?" The Davenport boy asked.
- "They're not talking to me either, but I don't care." The Matthews girl shrugged, closing her eyes.
- "I'm not talking about them." The green hazel-eyed boy said.
Oh. The blue-eyed girl sighed and opened her eyes. He's talking about Chase.
- "Still nothing?" Chase frowned and tilted his head to look at her.
Maddie raised her head to meet his eyes.
- "Nope." She smiled sadly. "Told you he didn't like me."
- "Baby, maybe he thinks that you're still upset about what happened last week. I mean, you haven't called or texted him since." The bionic boy replied.
- "Neither did he." The quadbrid shrugged and put her head into his neck again. "Doesn't matter. This was a one-way friendship anyway." She closed her eyes.
I don't like this. The Davenport boy sighed and hugged her tighter.
The Matthews girl kissed the crook of his neck.
